mini matters A Min painting podcast of course that is the Jingle everyone to the sixth episode of mini matters a miniature painting cast with myself of course Jamie hutber AR now Lazaro good night guys and Lono desel my pleasure to be here again now we have worked out or concluded that we have around a m second and a half delay between each messages so I think during the normal conversation does is not so prominent but when we do the introductions and we ask our now L to introduce themselves that delay there is not cuz they're like not playing attention it is just a consequence of the cast so today topic of the week of course would you rather task Masters kind of of course new releases which is a topic we haven't done and the jingle is questionable and very question Q&A so um and any we could start with
the journey though and of course the journey that I forgot and you didn't correct me when I gave you the list so I'm going to add that now the journey I was I I was trying to see get came out like the reason we are doing this podcast I've actually started my journey uh today I think I sent group I did send in the journey I think um so do we start with task mark oh so we should we just always start with a journey is that right you yeah I think so reviewing what we did the this week which probably is this this week will be quite quick I'm assuming well that's that's actually a very good point we should probably do now that we do have the third member of the illustrous mini matters we could quickly go over SMC as a way of just putting it to bed with the full team together um so
Lionel I've heard you become extremely mated he's just bent down yeah so I think I I yeah only because I switched off my Ultrasonic Cleaner because even though you may not be able to hear it it's irritating me yeah so I obviously got a chance to listen to your follow-up podcast about SMC uh as a punter which was was good to listen to um even though I was a brunt of many Jam jokes but I've got used to it now um that's true um but yeah my my view of of SMC was this it kind of did motivated me and it wasn't smc's fault um it wasn't it it's like a breakup it's not yeah exactly yeah I could break no I think what happened is my instinct was telling me all the way through not to go to SMC because I wasn't entering a piece and it's well documented what I think about about going to a convention with a painting competition and not entering um
I didn't have anything to buy it was purely a social Meetup um which is the element I was looking forward to but with Monty being so close and obviously with everything that was going on with work and and whatnot there was a degree of pressure going there although I was only I was there for two days it felt like I landed in the morning and I took off in the evening it was crazy like I was there for a day but that is that a sign of how much fun we I didn't really any well well this is it and I was thinking to myself so look I had no interest in the painting competition and I know I've heard your I've heard your discussion um and I've heard other people's comments about it and I can understand what's going on there but without having a horse in the race I wasn't too invested I obviously didn't buy that much so I wasn't there for that I think the main issue is I don't feel like I got to spend any time with you guys yeah so we seem Jamie and I seem to be rushing around everywhere um so we never really sat down and got a chance to relax and talk I realized well I didn't realize I realized pretty soon Anna and I were never in the same place at the same time
obviously with the staying at with the staying at different venues we couldn't even share a meal together yeah so the irony is we never spent any time and you highlighted it in the in the cast The only saving grace for it was the fact that we got to meet our community members yeah that was the highlight for me meeting them in person person putting faces to names because if if it wasn't for them it would have been a complete write off um and once again that is not a reflection of SMC is a reflection off I should have listened to my instincts and thought with you going to Monty a few weeks later there's no point you going to now wasn't wasn't going to go to Monty right and then well well arguably yeah of course we didn't know never spent anytime with yeah I I think I think I hadn't appreciated with with us being at different locations doesn't want to go for food or do anything that like I agree because there's two big things I think we stayed obviously in the same
hotel as on now last time yeah so obviously we were doing cast in the evening we we were doing a lot more relaxed stuff in the evening um and for me the flip side is SMC made me realize I don't know if it was the um before when I was filming everything that was the main thing I think like that was the main motivation to go SMC just taught me that actually I'm only I'm I get excited when I think about it because of the social and the videos stop me from being social do you know what I mean because yeah and I I think you tou two yeah yeah that's it and the other thing you touched upon in the cast is you said it felt like a wasted opportunity and that's what it did feel like it felt like we we all traveled yeah atly o00 to get there on different planes from different locations and we hardly spent any time with each other you know before I know I I was on that plane and then the final the final kick in the um in the nether regions for me was then when
I landed to drive back home I didn't get home till half one in the morning and as I as I was concerned about the M1 was closed 40 minutes out from my destination so you see that dreaded thing where you see the cone you see the hazard lights you think oh God I'm on a diversion at midnight when all you want to do is get at home so it that that final bit just left a bitter taste in the mouth uh but like I said it wasn't smc's fault I don't think I was ready for SMC this year I I think I had some some realization as well uh in the sense that I usually felt uh guilty of not spending times with you and and this year I I I did feel guilty as well but the same time amazing no no I really wanted to spend a lot of time with you but at the same time I accepted that I was there for different reasons than you yeah and and then I kind of you know rolled with it so I just
spend time in my store and just yeah well next year I'll obviously be going Lionel probably won't be going and I'm I'm much more excited about just doing the stand with you uh like and then obviously if there's three of us everyone can rotate and go and look at the shops and um yeah like just yeah and obviously yeah Albert may or may not come CU you know he wasn't going to come this year but then he did because we were all going so I think next year is going to look very different and I think that Monty um will be what we're looking more forward to and hopefully next year you can go on now also I wonder if we'll we'll meet up in the UK for other events I think maybe like salute or or Fen or you know well it it did make did make me think um a weekend at Warhammer world yeah it's perfect
it's a more viable op and it's better we we should do that yearly like at least three times pilgrimage yeah three times a year J saying I agree like I I don't see why like for me that's that's that actually might be an interesting because we experienced that where we went to Warhammer world and we did all that like that set the bar I think for what we expect our socials to be like you know and then and then we were kind of I think expecting that at SMC and obviously it didn't deliver and Warhammer world we I wasn't filming we were literally just playing games socializing eating Cinema yeah I mean it's it's different now with you having to fly over from AIA but when you in the UK it was easier to get to it was cheaper to get to it was easier to organized um yeah yeah it's well and you only had to drive 15 minutes oh yeah so the journey Lads anyway
that's we've only been talking seven minutes it's not that bad right we've got to fill like an hour and 40 so in a way it's good to fill that Dead Space because we are like you know clutching the straws here with like content and we're not on a well ordered ship at all I don't think not yet anyway so the journey oh wait hold on don't say anything don't you fucking say a thing I don't have a jingle for it oh well I thought that was a jingle then I'll I'll edit that and put it as the jingle hold on what's it called The Journey I've got a I think I've got a good um a good concept of what that could be anyway the
journey good yeah yeah are we waiting for a jingle or no no no no sorry right no no okay okay okay okay you know this we are doing this podcast for two reasons and two reasons only one is to push yourself to paint and the other one is to listen to your Jingles if there are no Jingles I'm going to quit loo actually did say as a punter the jingles are better than when he's sitting here with like now when he hears them now he's like he's obviously got disdain and disgust on his face which you guys can't see um but apparently when you listen as a punter they're quite good so thanks L thanks for that backed no they're very good and they're seamless as well but I think here obviously we see them being played so we feel that disconnect um sad so anyway I started my journey um I do believe that that I even posted a photo in the journey I didn't oh yeah I did okay brilliant so I've not seen it well it's probably because you saw it and just
were very annoyed it is a no I saw you I saw you speak mean no no well space room is Taskmaster um anyway so I'm back on like after SMC I had a lot of exciting dreams and hopes about doing like good scale mod like I 75 mil getting really into it all that kind of stuff and somehow I realized I just don't have fucking time like with the kids getting ill with the kids like the routine in Austria I have so much less time than I did in London like infinitely is ironic yeah I don't I don't even want to yeah um let's not go that like almost no free time um and I've realized if I was sitting down like for me to to to get to that high level or the level I want to be I have to actually sit down for 2 or 3 hours to paint right the longest I get at the moment by myself is like 15 minutes um so I realized that the Elder Project's the perfect thing for this
because it's like flat colors there's almost hardly any Edge highlighting and I'm so anyway I'm actually I'm super psyched to be able to do the Elder project again and for anyone who doesn't know what the Elder project is it's yeah g okay I'll do it I about say I've Not Seen the picture so I wanted to know I wanted to know what you were painting is the weapons you're talking about the Army in the90s yeah yeah the weapons plat from the 92 probably 91 92 um so just after Road Traer basically Rogue Trader but yeah the Elder project is is my dream to recreate Five Armies from 1999 in their exact style like like I want you to look at it and not know if I if I've raided heav metals like filing cabinets so that is it we don't need to dwell on that at all R now if you want to I have yeah this this thing that you said um I have this in my in my space which is something that we are going to discuss
today I think in my space I have I have um a whiteboard in the in the background of my my table like the the the wall of in front of my table it's a it's a whiteboard and I have this thing written um that it says uh do just a little because sometimes when I procrastinate uh it it takes me a long time to engage with with the painting and I can I can waste hours uh with that not engaging and one of the ways I have to trick myself or to to encourage myself to engage is to paint something even if it's very very small something else and that's something that you no no no no for example if I'm painting um whatever piece right yeah uh and then I have there's this guy for example the the the guy that I was painting the blood angel
that I painted for SMC it was a very complex piece I procrastinated a lot because the the more complex and the more you know fear you have from for a piece the more you try to avoid it right so for for exactly for for tricking me to to start painting I painted just a tiny bit for example the handle of the of the sword yeah or one one think of the armor something like this it's like it's like you know what the task Masters is this week yeah well yeah it's but and and but it's actually a really good idea because this this just starting and getting involved is what makes you pain just unlocks your brain as maybe yeah it's like a door or like a little window you know it's not like you need to enter through two massive doors
uh you you can just enter through a very tiny window and then just I imagine like the same a guy with a Lamborghini or some super car revving up and then go like clicking his fingers and winking at the bar like the door man and he goes hey and then he opens the thing and then you you know in films they open the club and then it's like it's not euphoric but every anyway y so we may as well just quickly cover um get that fucking J done mate task
Masters task Masters just quickly cuz actually this one we don't need to talk about do we or do we need talk about it yeah well to to summarize the journey I did nothing this this week say well no I just thought I just thought we could quickly do task master then come back but if you've got nothing then yeah I I thought should we just finish Journey while now it feels like we're back at SMC the doors of an ice cream parlor before we walk away um oh shit I'll uh so my journey is still my Monty piece um I one thing that SMC taught me is I obviously started looking around at the master entries while I was there um and I was filled with a bit of fear when I realized what what you're competing with he's in the master that is quite funny yeah yeah so so I came back and I looked at my piece again and it was interesting actually I had hit a bit of a stumbling block on my on my
base um and there was a particular plant on it that I'd been wrestling with for a while one in how to paint it two whether it was going to survive the journey because I thought it was too fragile to not snap and then I I it sounds silly but I removed it yesterday and the whole composition and everything came together the composition the composition the how comfortable I and I found I was forcing this plant in there for variety when I realized it wasn't helping the composition it was making Bringing Down the quality of the because obviously I wasn't painting that particular plant that well um and then obviously the anxiety I had about this probably being damaged in in transit appeared with it as well so after hitting a few days off a stumbling block I actually it all started to to roll and come together again so I've made some progress um but I'm feeling the pressure of the deadline that is yeah well it's not long now is it two weeks two and a half weeks taking us three days as well he knows are you
taking time off it's two it's two weeks three days right right you're just correcting me we fly yeah um right well so you're all set basically for Monty you just need to paint effectively yeah I know what I need to do um you're going to have time yeah why don't you get do like what um Albert does fuck me um with the gank CH what's that he's got um what you basic you do you know gank charts I don't know if you know them like um gank charts gank g n t I think gank would be K wouldn't it Gant chart then anyway fuck it basically it's not actually a Gant chart it's just a calendar and and on each on each day he has what he's gonna paint he marks down the days he's got left does he no he's like oh okay he's like literally like yeah sword will be three days the base is like two days a Gant I'm going to Google that it's AAL he marks down the day he's
got left like everybody else it is a Gant chart I was right and it's Double T like and it's basically all it is is it's still a calendar but on the left hand side you have the rose you can see it on the thing right so you'll have like a sword and then you'll do you you'll color in across from left to right how many days it takes over so you can see the overlaps uh and the days you anyway fuck it just just plan plan it plan it plan it plan it Planet of the Apes um okay so well that's the journey I mean I'm excited by if if if if well that leads us really nicely into obviously one of the best get that back and Jan mate task Masters right um so they were smiling yeah they they they enjoyed that even though there was silence you know they quite at least they don't laugh as loud as I do I'm laughing ironically because even though we've now got a schedule I'm even further lost you're all like the way you jump
about well that's the I mean there was a reason why we appointed me as the um the MC right because you didn't want an organized structured show you you didn't want anyway task Masters um so this week's task Masters we are are going to release um I'll try and save it as a PDF but it's probably just going to be a JPEG that you will print off at home okay now the spelling and the days might be wrong but you ignore that just focus on we can that with Photoshop it's very easy to change okay well if an I was electing to do that because I definitely wouldn't have fucking done it so yeah of course print it off and what go on l no it's right Carry On Son of a right so the task Mas is we can also talk about previous but I think no one knows what it was because we went to SMC and didn't really recall but um you've got to paint every day for 15 minutes and it doesn't matter what you paint but you just got to sit down and paint something right so that's that's the task and uh the the the graphic is
literally just Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday Saturday Sunday Monday and obviously you need to do a tick and we ideally want to see photo evidence that you did indeed paint yeah now I'm I'm I'm I'm I'm well I mean otherwise what's the point yeah yeah no it's fine it's fine she said yeah lono's face is looking very very skeptical I think I don't understand why he doesn't want to do this Taskmaster oh it's not that I don't I paint every day anyway oh he is big shot but but like I said I'm working on my Monty piece so that's what I'll be doing for it doesn't matter what piece you work right task Masters doesn't have to be um that's that's this this dmas is a Jamie D master yeah yeah because I want to paint every day yeah well I already paint every day because I know I said that I don't eat and then and I can I can hear the chorus of the community going Jamie we all paint every day too prove it then you little
shits you're always in my ear they're like What's That Bird like a chirping as um anyway you know they chirp so much it's the boy who cried chirp like if you keep chirping then you you know you're doing on purpose I listened I listened to that one uh in the background and I was like oh he did like I had was it as as the old saying goes never meet your work colleagues and I'm like no Jamie it's it's not never week I'm only bringing chirp you done it again if you keep chirping and then PE and then one day you need to chirp people won't believe that you're chirping so so don't give up your day job that's all I'm saying um so paint every day 15 minutes we know you can do it ticket I believe in you it's it's the community it's not just me oh no everybody needs this motivation I I believe in the
community that's but also I believe in if I do I'll be amazed but I I will I just bought a new color printer as well so I can actually print this off uh and I will tick it and I'll probably give poppy one as well maybe so we can do it together as a team Hopper um l laughing so yeah task master and then of course topic of the week too long it took too long L I didn't know you were going to Cher in sorry do you want to say or do you want no no let's go let's go to top let's go to topic of the week because Tas Masters has killed me let's go just cuz you probably fail I bet you fail this week you better print it off L if you don't do it how will the community do it you know what the irony is it will get in the way of me printing trying to print that off and tick it off is getting in the way of me just picking up the brush and painting here he is
a it's a classic Jamie I could sit down and paint or I could procrastinate doing side thing paint well you're not wrong I mean hopefully it won't take long to print right um and you can get your work and worst case you know we'll send it in the post did you Splash right where were we um uh topic of the week top of the week um so topic of the week is do you want to do would you rather first though do you want to do topic of the week put the jingle Jingles Jingles so
it is Hobby room essentials uh so I think I don't know if this is true but I thought we could list each of us could list five but they can't be the same as the next person right okay we we can't rotate like exactly one one each um yeah but obviously if you have extras at the end then go on before we start I just I just want to say I stayed over at Alberts obviously you guys have been there before um last weekend and that is a painting room listeners this is Albert who won the Slayer sword not just a bloke that he met on the street yeah you and and and that that hobby that hobby room is designed with purpose and intent isn't it Jesus is there is not a piece out of place a pot out of place when you go in there you just know he's going to war and the one thing that I've I've started doing that I noticed he
does all his unused PLS are even on display in his cabinet so he knows what his selection is to choose from it's it's it's it's such optimized right like I said yeah it's optimized for Success well have can you see my um just to to just throw ice on that fire can you see my desk the opposite yeah but it looks good right and it looks organized and optimized but does it bring success and I'll let you be the answer wait I'll let you be the the answer of that um judge yeah all right hold on I think oh I yep so task wait what were we doing task Masters no oh the topic of the week okay I'll go first okay all right and I'll write them down um of water in a in a in a pot however actually this is a real
one you will use cups which I think you're fucking stupid cuz I use a harabo old harabo jar so it's a big I'll send a photo of it in the Discord it's a big um oh yeah anybody who's listening we we don't really upload to Youtube anymore we've moved to SP Spotify so just recognize that okay so just just throwing it in Sp um it's it's a really big container so it has loads of water so it doesn't get dirty as quickly and it Falls over but yeah obviously number one water container for rinsing your brush oh no um I would say my w palette which is uh novent TR and it's the same reason the same reason I could say that you are fucking stupid for not using an no tray because you have a lot more I use an oven tray for paint do you do it now I have been for the last like I very rarely use that wet
palette thing I just tried them and yeah I bought eight but you know I was just trying it um like for the last like four years I've probably used an oven tray basically except for those small in it's yeah it's it's amazing because then you can just cut the the open paper and it fits perfectly oh okay next one I've got something to follow up to that and obviously ler won't fuck me here I I wonder if somebody's listen to that and your first one is gone that is why I'm struggling with painting I've not got a job with water in it here's me overlapping all the pains I'm I'm so glad I listened to this cast with these nuggets of wisdom I'm gonna get me a job it's Essentials you can't leave out the quintessentials can you okay um a chair is my one brushes don't give don't give it away H uh get them to tun in next week for the
chair um for me is a fairly recent discovery for me in the last year or so is magnifying glasses of course um mag because even if your site's good my Clos vision is is good I find that I spot things while painting that I would only pick up in the photo stage you know when you f to your mini anything Christ is that what it looks like you're not going for really smooth either are you you're that you just don't want to miss glaringly obvious things I guess no but I think it's more for detailing and stuff it's not about uh blending or you know or a smooth surface it's more about details yeah yeah I would have got that as well um so my what are we doing sorry the yeah my um Essentials My Essentials are now said he cuts his paper by himself absolute waste of time like that would stop me painting that huge I bought pre-cut baking powder tray
paper pre-cut bacon sorry where's the there's no ex why aren't you amazed there look when when I sit my in my chair every morning the first thing I do is I take out the the last uh paper I just do a a tiny gesture where I open drawer I open the paper cut it and put it like it takes like 10 seconds literally can't express how much that frustrates me haven't that's why I quit that was why I quit paletes I know my face doesn't look amazed Jamie but I assure you I am amazed thanks mate you you look quite the opposite actually uh right oh now son of a bitch um I would say a chair but obviously I I'll say something useful which is that the chair needs to be quite lower than the table so you are not bending
forward and or the or the table needs to be higher than the than the chair right if not then you are more likely to have your back hold your back or air paintt which is also air paint's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of um so obviously this is It's on topic and this was going to be because it's for me obviously I've moved countries now and I'm in a different country obviously but but I tell you what's weird is I've got the same desk but I've got a new chair for painting and I've only painted once really and that was the space me like a long session and I when I finished the chest like I didn't realize and I was like I felt so uncomfortable like it was like I've been squished in a fucking box or something like a really small box for too long uh and I was like that explains why that painting session was so like horrid cuz my chair positions not right and I've tried to I've gone low I've
gone tried to go a bit higher like I'm not comfortable I think it's the best way to like describe yeah and I didn't realize that in London I had just without even thinking about it my chair was always at the right height in London I had two chairs right I've got just for the room set up I've got my work desk which has like three monitors and my computer and obviously keyboard and then I've got a hobby desk which is like an L-shaped desk um and in London I had two chairs and I just hopped between the two right but here hard floor the room's a lot smaller so I was like let me use the same chair now I realize I'm having to adjust everything so I never have it the same but yeah that to me is obviously I've gone on there but it it's a massively important thing that I've not got right yet and I think being comfortable while you important yeah yeah yeah it's it's it's massive yeah I might buy another chair even if it's just a fucking like hard one you know one of those fake chairs that you get in like the front room yeah I
mean if it's it needs to be com and I think it needs um to have some some super for you if you want to lay back just moment you know just collect your thoughts oh so it's me yeah it yeah um no I mean I feel like now everybody does this but nail nail polish racks to have your paints stood up in so you can clear your work space and you can see everything you've got and also once you reach the limit of those nail racks you know you don't need to be buying any more paints you are you just need to be swapping some out I I have not seen that if you could share a photo of that please in Discord okay like now now the phone's upstairs what's it called like they're like yeah I'll send it to you they're like what five tear just like acrylic
yeah yeah like nail yeah essentially if you've ever gone into beauticians um and you know where they paint the nails and they got the choice of nails behind colors behind them is what they use here so I've got two of those um CLE the Hobbies on um this this MDF cutouts uh that you assemble and they are vertical so you can not waste horizontal space which is basically what we what we usually like and I have two of them they they fit a lot of pains actually in in in one of them I have 55 um 55 bjo ones and in the other one I have one two three four five six seven eight uh yeah so 30 30 Citadel ones so and that that plus some more it's all of I need like yeah heavy um I don't use them anymore L heavy body
paints do you still use them um no they're there I can't not heavy body the heavy bodies have been thrown away but the scale 75 acrylic tubes um I keep them more because I just like the the way they look they look very Artistry but I don't use them someone walks in and go fuck me this guy's an actual artist you say yeah am yeah he's a pro yeah he knows his shit if he's got them fuck me yeah that's actually how I got my first wife um so number three for me I look I had it um is a magnet mic drop just a magnet the mic back up because I don't understand what you're going on about okay mic back up um oh I wrote mic drop that's embarrassing uh what was it called batteries magnets um so have you ever been to Ikea and in the kitchen section they have a magnetic knife rack mhm
yeah this have you seen um American Psycho when they get the business cards out yeah yeah that's the face I'm pulling when the top guy at the end goes take a look at this and leans forward and puts it on the table CU I'm So Pro um dickhead so basically I need to s a photo I've long this out much more than it is cuz I thought you'd get it when I said magnets but um I have um a shelf like on my desk I have a little air like thing that's raised you know like it's a shelf basically on my desk built in so it means I have a little area fucking hell whatever I put the magnets underneath a desk and then all my hobby tools are on it like my pliers my tweezers my spikes my SC that's how I got the scalpel in the arm the six in in my arm from from having it not well it fell off your magnet no previously I had it on a on a a vertical so I had two magnets vertically like that and then
obviously I one I had two scalpel one is like normal no magnetic and I had this one that was thinner and magnetic so I would slap the scalpel on the frame of the on my shelves basically and just happened that that was the night I was going to get sex and that's what happened cuz T was like she have sex and I was like leave it with me and then I went in and she was like where's the baby monit and I turned off all the lights and everything in that room but the baby monit was still on so the light was there so I ran in happy as Larry right went to grab the baby monor and then I just heard this and I was like felt nothing there was no feeling whatsoever I just knew the sound was a scalpel and it was in my arm uh and I was like oh shit cuz I just replaced the blade so it was a fresh blade yeah and it took it the magnet's quite strong so it takes a lot of force to get it off anyway and then I I went in to Tina and I was like look Tina I'm going to turn the light on but don't please don't scream okay she like Jimmy
Jesus Christ what have you done and obviously I turned the light on there's only like two inches left of the scalpel and it's the back of the scalp you've seen the photos anyway haven't you yeah they're very good shoters and then she screamed and it was like 2 a.m. anyway point is that's not a story selling it I actually think that I've refined it now I always put the scalpers the other way around um all the shars are pointing away from me I just I just don't feel that and this is probably a reflection of why on me more than it but I don't feel those tools need to be handy so like obviously all my space is paints and brushes I can get to but the prep side of it is something that I kind of I've got all my prep stuff in the box that I take out or a roll up that I take out my model and then put it away it's like the smallest part what I do that I don't feel that I need them taking up desk space to me that seems like a waste of desk space
well that's why it's not on my desk that's why it's underneath the look I'll try and I'll show you I can't show you cuz oh it's under your de desk yeah it's actually there do you see that maget under well did you see that black there on the magnet's under your desk holding scps there no it's under the Shelf yeah so you've got this so you've got about 45 cm lead room of my normal Des space and I don't sorry I'm not talking to the mic I don't put the scalpore there anymore but I do have some spiky shit for me any anything that takes more than like half a second to get to I flip out I can't take it so then I'll spend the next like four however long it takes to find a solution that works and I can't relax until I've done that yeah I think it's important to have things at hand I also have um tools and everything well that could be your number three oh no well I'm talking about same Lally really okay um yeah I
just yeah to uh to the hierarchy right of of tools I have the tools that I use usually like the scalers the Twisters I have them here in a shelf that I have here and then the other ones I have them in this in the first Super accessible right yeah exactly yeah yeah I'm with you I'm um I'm surprised that um well I suppose it lono's not doing it every day like whereas things I use I guess a better way to sum up if I use it every single day I really want it to be like Snappy as a race car do you know what I mean yeah understand that I don't use them every day yeah yeah yeah so my my first my third thing is a computer oh interesting I I I cannot live and I cannot paint without my I don't know a movie or a TV show or something like that
hey oh really shots fired I suppose when you're on it it's not as exciting that's what you mean isn't it no no I prefer to have something with visuals as well not only oh yeah I know I know it's weird I've I've tried to do this now are now um because I've got a TV now in this new room I've got TV next to my hobby space and all that's happened I didn't I didn't at first I didn't realize where you know where I said I have 15 minutes a day to paint mhm it turns out and I that was true I just watch films now I'm like I'll stick this film on and then 40 minutes in and I don't realize and I've still got the paintbrush in my hand I'm just like like I'm just captivated did you do something no I just watched it all and then I'm like oh fucking hell like and then I was trying yeah so I'm the same I've got my laptop in the background but I tend to have
YouTube on listening to original soundtracks you know those kind of motiv thick ones depending what pie piece you're painting I tend to theme it that way um but I would struggle I would struggle if there was something that was a visual distraction as well because I'm the same I will either spend all my time watching it I used to painting so very early on in my painting uh life I decided I'm not putting Netflix or anything called in the background oh now it's got no soul me well or I do have a lot of soul and I have to Soul to spare um yeah the thing is if I put uh music or something that doesn't distract me fully uh I stop painting it's when it's when I have something that really distracts me like a movie or a TV show and I I need to like it if I don't like it it doesn't work so if I like like it it's like I have two sides of my brain one brain one part of my brain wants to
go and do something else wants to not paint I don't know if you can feel that it's the compressor um um so one part side of my brain wants to just go and run away and then the other one wants to eat so I need to paint and to keep that other side that wants to leave um here I need to distract it with a movie so my my part that wants to paint will will keep painting if the part that wants to get distracted is distracted it's like a constant ble it's it's a bit weird feel very basic because I can only do one thing you you know how women say men can't Mel that sounds like living Agony to me where you've got two things at the same time competing I couldn't live like that uh I can't do anything else like I put music and the music doesn't I mean obviously I like music but it doesn't
distract me it's just noise on the background right if anyone else has I something I'd love to know yeah yeah I I never met anyone that that does the same as SP about it before I I struggle a lot to paint in silence like well it's not silence but you mean something that doesn't really just take some part of your concentration yeah yeah it's a it's the fact that you actively need a distraction to be able to paint well that's what happens when you can write books I think that's that's what we've learned here like it's it's just a contradiction yes but yes but no because it's not a distraction it's something that that um ties me to the desk you know if if I don't have something that ties me to the desk then I procrastinate but if I have this movie that I like I find very easy to watch a movie while I'm painting how how much you
concentrating though on the film like um do you know what I mean like how engrossed are you on it I'm not watching all the time definitely not I'm watching I'm looking at my figure but I when I finish the movie I know perfectly what happened maybe I I lost some of the visuals of the movie which I it's fine most obviously there's there's movies and movies it's not like I can put inter and and paint because that that makes no sense but I can watch action movies or comedy movies you know it it doesn't if if they're easy to follow uh it's it's wonderful yeah for for me at least obious I think well so go it's probably the sense that you don't need to concentrate as much as we do driving versus it sounds like you're Auto Yeah well yeah I think you're an autopilot when it comes to painting then yes but when when I when I struggle
with something and for example the the last the last piece that I did it's it's a piece that demanded a lot of me yeah and and I needed a lot of concentration to to pull that uh but I still was watching movies when I and on a TV show when I was um painting but maybe if I'm struggling with something then I just remove a bit of attention from the movie and give it to the figure and if I'm doing things that are easier then I give more to the movie and then remove some of the figure you know it's like a back and forth and I don't know do you pick so so what I was going to say is obviously we spoke about this and I was quite like oh fuck fu yeah let me try that cuz I've only ever done music and I find sometimes I get a bit blah blah blah so I tried as I said I tried those films or TV shows and I just fucking loving it like the show and not painting but then two days ago or whenever I had that long painting session I I basically started watching scrubs which I've probably seen three times all the way through it's like n that's that's that's a good that's a
good show to put white painting cuz you I know pretty much the story line I don't have to watch at all really uh and I found I could paint while doing that but when I was watching stuff like I don't know Inception or um like but tailet or like yeah you can't you can't watch Inception or things like that painting it's like well you that's what I was trying to do CU they're captivating right I was like just let me put cool shit on and now I've I've I've got scrubs on like favorites and I've got um Fringe which I never finished the TV show just it's in my mind it's like Comm denominator shit that's got funny moments or good moments but you can just hit yeah one one of the best things that I that I have for that is Supernatural Supernatural a gazillion um Seasons I think they are 12 or something 25 25 episodes yeah and and it's a good show well it has ups and downs but yeah it's
perfect you can spend ages with that and and you you can understand everything because the episodes are easy and and fun so yeah that's my that's my stuff so Lineo number three um this this one seems a bit obvious and I think everybody does it but I still think it's worth being said is a good lighting system I know I've got the daylight lamp but it but it doesn't have to be the daylight lamp you just need to make sure you've got enough lights on your desk space which fully illuminates what you're working on did you can you believe it it's like a kid that just realized now do things um I have three Ikea Lambs the the cheapest one the I I think it was eight eight quit when I bought them and the
5,000 Kelvin lamps well LED um lamps and with that it's I think it's it's it's very versatile like you have three three arm um lights that you can move and depending on what what you need so yeah and it's Al together like less than 30 pound I I'm a little bit annoyed because that was my number four was I I was going to have literally three lamps that's what I was going to say because I obviously had a lamp in Austria already cuz I was painting when I came over and then I needed two lamps cuz of this L-shaped desk in London so then I brought two over forgetting I had this one and now I've got three lamps on this desk and when I only have one lamp on I find that I need to put the lamp cuz they're not Albert um Slayer sword Winer um has the you know that expensive lamp that's extremely powerful you can have it quite high above him and it still
illuminates the whole desk perfectly whereas I find with mine these I don't even know what they are they're like the 100 quid ones from Amison um you have to get them quite close to to actually illuminate the model so I'm backing up your three lamp stuff um or get three really expensive lamps I I have I had these three lamps since since I came to to England so eight years ago and I think it's really the best setup like also because I don't I don't I don't like to have the lamps on top of me I like to have the lamps like a little bit like this so I can see the same as as you see when you paint the figure not not from the top to to to describe the lamps I did put a a photo of them in the Discord but yeah they're they're literally like desk lamps aren't they but they've got quite long arms so you can move them you can put them like at I don't know how to say it but like tit level effectively can't you and
like shining cross-section almost which is I put a picture or a couple of pictures as well in in my in the yeah in the Discord of my of my stuff yeah so what's your your fourth Jimmy [Music] well I have found it very helpful actually it's a Dremel um I tried obviously I tried to use the hand tool um I just think you're an idiot and just you're you're you're you're just a fool if you're using hand drills I know it's crazy thank you thank you how what do you do when you go through a big um I knew you did when you go through a big thing I don't get it like a big thing of what big fucking chunk of metal like a hand drill I'm talking about one of the small ones right they don't P Meal no you P oh what I
do I don't just the other day I was pinning a fucking like one kilo model uh and I was like okay well you've poo pooed your own I think you should still get a Dremel so um I cover dro I literally have I have a Dr and I use it when I need to but not for that um it's so much easier to do it with the hand riddle I disagree well on the flip side I've also got one of those foot powered ones with the hand hand drill that's really good right but yeah that's very that's very but it's not as powerful as the dremo it doesn't have enough torque to get through the same drill piece I can use on on the hand one and on the tremol and on the hand one it just doesn't fucking go it just makes the metal hot cuz it spins on it so fast and then I use the drem on it would just go through like hot butter just like sloy boy anyway that's mine fourth my fourth would be uh a light rink with a good camera I think if you
if you don't take good pictures of your figures they don't exist you know so the only way for I mean for for me taking pictures of your figures is like a part of painting I I I don't consider a figure finished until I took pictures and the LA the last thing I bought was this uh light ring and it's freaking amazing how better the pictures look with it I mean yeah I think it's one of the best things I bought in the last few years shit okay yeah I bought I bought one off your I bought one after your recommendation and um yeah the pictures are better keep trying to angle lamps and then one lamp was too too close and the light ring just gives that equal lighting to it all so I put the the light ring and then I put one of these three arms that I have on the desk on top so I have a slight support of light
from the top but but then the main one is the light ring um so this is quick one I thought you did it didn't you oh sorry you are the first second yeah this will be my last one anyway um color wheel um having a color wheel handy is uh I do have one actually can't see um yeah having color wheel handy is still useful for me in terms of checking certain things I'm guessing the um red blue and yellow color wheel oh yeah not the magenta one though I really like the magenta wheel but I don't know where you can buy that yeah yeah I'm talking about ready yeah I'm talking about the readymade ones that they give everywhere yeah right that's fine yeah that yeah that was an eye opener actually um um so my last one would be a
white board thing from Ikea where you can extend like for the amount of real estate that it gives you vertically and horizontally but it's technically vertical what are you using a whiteboard for I like to just draw dickpics it's not actually a whiteboard it's not a whiteboard it's a white board thing so I sell it and it has holes in it and you basically attach these little attachments to it so like literally like three ah yeah it's to the Whiteboard I've tried to explain this like three times I've gone into Ikea and I'm like ah sorry because they keep moving it in in the v Ikea and they're they just look at me like and they speak perfect English I'm like it's a whiteboard thing it's in the office and like you put stuff on it like you just and then I like go you just attach things on it it's got like loads of little holes on it and without fail the person I'm talking to has no idea what I'm talking about and then one of the other Ikea people go it's that so it's not my description it's those guys are idot
anyway I put a picture of that in the um in the new thread called hobby Essentials um so you can check it out but yeah basically it's transformed my um hobby room without all of that real estate I wouldn't have as much left and that is my fifth one thanks very all for [Music] joining um I don't I have to say a fifth but I would say well you lose if you don't so art artwor in in my walls I I have right now that I'm seeing without moving my head I have three pieces from Warhammer I have a huge Arch own um painting uh Space Marine the cover of I think it was sixth sixth edition and then the the tow artwork for from third or fourth edition uh and I have them here just
because I love to see nicer stuff does it actually motivate you or do you think you get bored of them um probably I I take them for for granted but when I look at them I just yeah feel okay feel nice yeah has got you don't have another one then no I checked out of this segment unbelievable if our even our own cast members can't even keep up how what hope do we have when you when you said when you said a pot of water I checked out then wasn't that the first one oh yeah I need to share a photo of that cuz that is very very good like yeah I think anybody who uses is a mug is a dickhead so there you have it uh two mugs why one for white one for just Browns oh because that's double the
water double the F Well you need you need one of these it's like two jugs isn't it breasts right um so any other ones well the cutting mat's really helpful where yeah I don't know what you think about that line well I won't FL a dead actually actually with this this is a a very um poor hack that I I have for this from in Ikea they they sell this transparent plastic thingies for protecting floors and and interesting things they are really cheap four pounds I think and I buy one every year because it's it's perfect for the table it's like a cutting matte but it's extremely cheap it's not fucking green which is the most disgusting color for a no I mean it's absurd to have green on your table if you are painting like it's it's disturbing really disturbing oh
interesting and this is this is transparent so it's it's perfect and it's extremely cheap so yeah see all the buys from Ika I think that could have been one of your fifth ones or could have easily been one of your real ones um I don't know I'm gonna yawn I'm gonna mute myself boring [Laughter] yourself right so um that nicely brings us on to would you rather have um Jamie you can't say that sorry l l almost sleeping he he's he's putting his PJs on he's ready to sleep no I knew it was meant to be pressure of me now my face flies up on the screen as well no one else can seeing that it is meant to be me that's the kind of banter we have at this in this good podcast so would you
rather have an unlimited paint collection but a tiny workspace or a spacious studio and only 10 Colors oh do you all the way like 10 colors all the you're going to struggle on now I would change 100 square meters for thank like every single day of the week it would be nice I think that's I think the I think the difference as well is because it's your job you spend a lot of time in that space so space is more important to you well not if you need more than like if you can't get the same results with 10 paints then you're putting your job on the line like the 10 colors is enough to paint comfortably like I I wouldn't say that it's the best eyes that's a mic drop the way no 10 colors is more than enough it's too much
two left over yeah I just need the eight too you're basically saying that you would you're basically saying you'd you would do whatever took with those 10 colors you you would make you would love those make it yeah yeah yeah I think if I had imagine having having having space to to create a a huge terrain to play yeah you got with colors you have individual cabinets for each figure well yeah well well it's okay yeah you could you would have space yeah you would have a fucking m Museum if you want because I traded all my colors for a huge space well unlimited colors apparently I I think on the basis that I only paint in this space two hours a day I'd go with the more colors less space 10 would be an interesting thing I
think potentially there's a potential to learn a lot if you were forever forced to paint with 10 pains and I guess you could change those 10 paints out I don't know it wasn't part of the wood you rather but a really small space would be that's know man I don't paint much now anyway so probably take that I'll CH I'll change you my space all day like if you want you can come here and live in my my St and I live in yours I mean it's a fair trade right and rent it out that's what you could do I'll give you all my paints I have hundreds and hundreds of paints I'll give you all of them I've got too many as well but yeah I mean why not have both right anyway let us know in the this is the first would you rather we've done in a while actually but um question number two is would you rather have two brighter light or two dimmer light to paint obviously E bright I think too bright
though means you can't see like I no ne ne neither one of them were desirable you're asking me to pick the one that I would find you don't need to explain to me that to Bright would cause problems but I think I would struggle more with Christ I I think I would struggle more with the two dim over too bright what what does do the mean like how how I think a light like in your front room like that's how I Envision it like not basically not not a daylight lamp just like a normal light look at [Laughter] L yeah I I feel like that's the idea and then too bright is like the fucking light in your mouth it's a fine line I would prefer probably less light but it depends if it's if it's enough or not okay so pussies basically no one can
neither of us none of us picking that what's your answer you not answered what would you prefer hold on let me do the face again so um which one would you prefer not to painting too dim too dim I'll take to Bright right I've got tears now scorpion um scorpion scorpion right so here is
the jingle for I have to say cuz they cut short cuz you only low 5 Seconds new [Music] releases people will kills this we won't do that one again but it's like whales and dolphins like going berserk I don't know why I think I was just making noises with my mouth uh and then I was like this is great right so new releases this is the people people are painting at the minute there's a collection of dogs outside their window like getting berserk why are these dogs here or all dogs like start barking yeah yeah howling yeah um so for me obviously new so new releases were suggested by blue fangs from our Discord a mini mod I will add um as she said years ago because we had feature requests new releases and this is the first time it's been apt or possible to
talk about it so I wanted to talk about the new striking scorpions what's wrong when you said new releases I thought please God not not H he said I would about scorpion well why else would I ever want to talk about anything right so first of all for the first time in Striking Scorpion's life they actually have a helmet that makes sense they used to have this little rabbit thing Lon you can switch off mate it's part of the cast so all I'll say is I don't know who sculpted them but it's the first release in the longest time that I can really remember that I thought I like it the first release I really like them like yeah I think they're great okay good so let's let's do [Laughter]
brilliant QA then um I guess it's this one we're on to we're on to the what's it called this episode has been War for car Crush than usual I mean they they're not they're not screwed but this episode has been dragic I've enjoyed it um we've had lots of laughs along the way so SL as the snail so of course slow as the snail is the Q&A section of our website we only have two questions today so it won't last long um and they are from finger jamang Jang gath from our Discord and he has asked us what scale do we prefer and why 54 Jesus J Christ just went for it 120 maybe
110 completely opposite things I said maybe like a lot of my Elder like statues are 110 but they're they're not Buss obviously they're just I wish you could L you need to vocalize these um vocalize these Expressions emotions yeah um because the viewers are missing out on very much testicles so yeah why do you prefer that so for me 54 I don't like 32 because obviously there's only so much you can do with it it is quite difficult to get the detail down if you're not a good painter 54 gives you enough space whereas you're not having to cover as much surface as you would do with the 75 I know a lot of artists prefer 75 but for me 54 seems to be the sweet spot that's why it wasn't
just a feet it wasn't just a number I plucked out of the air like one of my favorite models I've ever painted as serman is I don't know what scale that is it seems a little bit larger than 75 feels feels it could be small anyway this is a bit smaller I think it's like um five in I think or something like that so I I did enjoy that scale because it gave you quite a lot of yeah it gave you quite a lot of room to move on it I think um and then if you wanted to get really detailed you could still you could do some freehand or like on on the some an5 yeah on 75 but then like my ELD that I painted that 30 cm model that was really really fun and a challenge that I'd not like to try and get the pink right on the cloak I don't
I think I just deleted it all last time but I remember painting it and still like I felt a freedom on that large scale that I I never felt before in my life um it was like coming out no it was like I I know it's I feel like it's hard to articulate but I was painting it and I did just feel less restricted and I didn't I wasn't really like intimidated by the size because I don't think size makes a difference if that makes sense like if you know how to use it exactly and it's all about the motion in the ocean um so like I don't know I I've got some really I've forgotten I had these memories but some really fun memories of painting that big scale but then on the flip side I tried to paint a warlock and do some like multicolored rainbow shit and it was fucking awful and I hated the model I think I have a politician answer
32 um because I have to obviously paint all the scales all the time and I think everything has its own goods and bads for example for for me uh 3 32 mm are are really nice because you can do it them relatively quickly and and you can do a lot more stuff like diaramas and stuff like that without spending months to it uh but then the more you go into bigger scales like 54 and 75 you can add more detail to your pieces and they are a lot more impacting when you have them on your on your cabinet 75 mm um obviously diarama would look immensely better than a 28 mm diama uh and then when you go into bus into busts you can paint a lot more you can print a lot more detail and nuances and stuff but I think you lose
that model making side of of painting you know you just paint and you have bust in a rod and that's it so that's something that I really don't like what what I like more every time is to be able to create an Ambience and and some some bays and stuff so for that reason maybe I would be between 7 75 and 32 is that why I don't know well I would say as a collector I would prefer 75 and and 32s but as a painter a bust because it's easier and you can do a lot more stuff okay I think that's partly why you like the dragon head releases that are coming up cuz they all tell a Min story or at least they enable you or let you paint a story um I'd also say that all of the bus or three4 lengths or whatever that you paint you do put a lot of story into them normally even with your paint obviously yeah it's not the same amount
that you would get but yeah yeah I mean obviously I don't want to paint just because I want to paint you know I I I try to make that that differentiation between coloring and painting well while coloring is just adding colors and then painting is just doing a paint um but with with a full figure and smaller ones that you can add a lot more into like more figures more scenery more stuff and it's just it's just nice I miss slightly tired of busts to be honest everything is busts and you just have a a piece of resin in a in a rod painted very well painted but just that yeah I I don't know SMC reminded me a little bit of like seeing thousands of models and how Samy we all are and and obviously we're all trying to get better at painting and it makes sense that we're going down that Journey um yeah we
but like yeah I think but when you see those those historical diaramas with tanks and buildings and stuff and it's like that's so fucking amazing if we could translate a 10% of that into our diaramas I would be happy for life do we not have patience is that what it is like I wonder is it that we want to learn in my case I would need funding that's the only reason yeah but would you have I feel like like I would love it I just feel with the World War II stuff not the World War II sorry the historical stuff their industry is set up more to enable you to make those easier so I found so many stores at SMC which had all the buildings all the posters all the stuff designed whereas in in Warhammer they are mostly designed to be a gaming piece with a gaming function as opposed to the C di arm R off so you can do it but I think you've got limited
variety and limited Choice whereas there are entire sections of the historical community that are are they just but but there's million companies that make cery for Warhammer and very detailed at that so I I'm pretty sure you can find in 32 mm you can find countless things uh for but then I suppose the issue is if you're going to a third party if you're making a diarama for Golden demon talking yeah but yeah but I think most people do something that scale are doing it to stick into golden demon aren't they if you're in that if you're in that Community like that I feel like there used to be a a hardw written rule that said no third party shit and now I believe the rule is no third party models I think they're much more think it's everything I thought the rule was gone from the oh we need to double check don't we I thought the rule had gone because um a I didn't remember seeing it
and golden demon just gone there were loads of winners that clearly had third party stuff in it so yeah I I had a discussion with some painters um at SMC actually who regularly enter golden demon to see what their view was because I was looking at third party stuff to potentially put on and they said said if it's an incidental piece from a third party on a sculpted base you'll probably get away with it for example a mushroom or something along those Albert had third party on it and that won the sword so no he sced it in the end the grass he had the the leaves there was grass leaves on it but it was from we should ask him I don't know yeah I I know there was one thing I know there was one thing he was going to use but he got so nervous that it might disqualify him he ended up sculpting it in the end I think they were mushrooms then I would go with him not having um huge third party stuff on it
uh there were some winners that I saw third party for sure um yeah yeah they there we could just talk like this for a while and then people would think are they talking English no we're not even talking a language but I oh there was another question I don't think we need to introduce it I think we need to introduce any more so the final question uh is it's a bit it's from the same guy who is frog Jim Jam from Jim Jeff from my Discord oh yeah we're on 62 members now of Discord so thank you all for following us giving me the nourishment that I do need um
are we enjoying dragon head models so I'll let loo answer that one very this is very open question yeah well incidentally I did say incidentally I did say to you um I'm feeling the real draw to paint that um morning Prince's bust that I bought yeah yeah that I bought a long time ago and I think I'd done a few busts in a row that I I wasn't interested but seeing it again on the table at SMC I really do I do really want to paint it um so I think after Mony um I'll make a decision as to whether I'm going to bother entering golden demon or not and the next n GW thing I do for a competition will probably be that pelvin Prince free advertising there thanks L it's genuine I I I had you know it's sounds engineered but it's genuine I I said this to you while I was there it's always been there that I want to do it
uh I just feel now that I can probably I developed a bit more since my last bust I could probably attack it uh a bit more seriously it's an intimidating model for me anyway it's a lot of skin I did paint one I think and then gave up but did start um I'm enjoying dragon head models very much I have I have some slight um frustrations with it at the moment by just like not being able to just churn a load of stuff out basically I I I I would like to have a job maybe two again and then I could like put more money in and I've got so many ideas like like genuinely like tens of 20s of ideas and and when I say ideas I mean like real concrete things that I would love to to put down and yeah obviously I can't but yeah the other thing I I found surprising is with all your pieces laid out on the table SMC I hadn't appreciated how many releases you've
accumulated it's cuz I sell like 13 of them you know when you only sell 13 you don't see it on social media do you no no but you've got qu you've got quite a choice is is what I'm saying it's more than just a handful I would say now I'm surprised that you bu up eight or nine it's been a long time actually and the the new releases which is what I'm enjoying a lot now is that the new releases that are coming down the line they are so cohesive I think Dr head had a few inconnect um pieces right the big dragons then you had few cartoony ones then the Elder stuff which which is fine but now the next ones are all of them very like in the same world the cartoon world that you're building and all that makes me want to even paint them more because they are more like a collection and that's
something that Brands really use a lot collections so if if people can collect the all the pieces from one line I don't know it makes it like you buy into that more don't you I guess when you know you like it like L won you won't like any of these new releases I think L like the next I'll be surprised if you do the next five I appreciate them for what they are so the two that I saw there I I app you know I appreciate the aesthetic it's very it's got a very disney-esque feel you know it's very signature a bit like Lucas Pinner you like when you see one of his sculps you know it's it's from his range and they all married together but as I've said to you from a personal perspective I just like darker stuff so it's it's too it's too uh yeah it is it's too um very deliber for me I think I I I grew very jaded of um of the war and the The Barbarians wanking with some swords so yeah it was a it was a
deliberate break from um from that I just in a way I'd like if they could see your face L um so I think yeah I think I just needed to get away from the heavy shit basically and this is much more and that's not to say cuz I love fantasy and I love like dragons and death and rape and tits and all that kind of stuff within the context of the stories um of course and obviously this cartoon world that I'm creating is like the opposite so like it's basically Game of Thrones versus like I Love Game of Thrones for what it is and it covers all the stuff that I just mentioned so it's totally safe to say those things um but also every now and then I just want to be able to just enjoy but that's not to say there's not Jeopardy in this Cartoon World cuz there is a villain and there are heroes it's just the villains happen to be very humorous if you've seen Paw Patrol you you'll kind of so kind of that level of villain if you know what I mean is that the V though say
again is that our villain though well he he for example when he does the heist with the cats like that's not an honest thing to do like he he he doesn't necessarily have to be our like villain that's try he's a bit like did you ever watch Danger Mouse growing up I don't know if you had it in Spain okay well there's a there's a Danger Mouse that name okay yeah well he he's basically like a James Bond but he's a mouse kind of like there lud nendos and he he like slaps a girl in the ass and it's like a CH kids thing and back in the ' 80s that stuff was fine anyway he he he's villain is what was he like a frog or a I never knew what he was he was like a frog in a big in the big chair yeah yeah with the cat so he's a ven that never just kills the things does stupid stuff he's got the total advantage and he could just he's just he's a he's a cartoon villain and it's a cartoon world right so like yeah course yeah like like he's trying to steal a giant gem for no reason like but but for me maybe the the
villains are the cats and he's just just there he just owns the cats but the cats are the you know a Dracula doesn't well I'm spoiling but he doesn't need to steal a gem but the cats are just being Mischief well the whole stealing gem thing they were it's an interesting because the original concept was that they controlled him weren't they is this your concept are you talking about pul Patrol uh my concept it's the concept because in Paw Patrol there are a group of cats as well who steal things but so I'm thinking why why is why is an now watching so much Paw Patrol when he's not got kids I I don't even know what PAW Patrol is so it's it's a way of life when you got kids fucking brilliant paor Patrol they even they released a film okay in like uh in the cinema and um in the in the TV show the cats ask the dogs ask how can you afford all of this stuff and he goes and and he holds up a real PAW Patrol
merchandise t-shirt and he goes it's merchandising it sells millions and then all all the dogs the dogs are like oh yeah that makes sense um which I thought was quite a nice way to mug yourself off but also not anyway the original concept was the cats were hypnotizing to you remember with the old lady and they were stealing a purse so hypnotizing and then the other one was so it was that the cats were there but then I think it grew into that the they do work for the um they do work for Dracula because Dracula's lazy now he's he's been living for 10,000 years or something so he's got these like go on LEL I don't know I can't follow the conversation I so you're not talking about PA you've got cats own byul yeah probably need to explain it because you're talking about it and the audience won't know all right so what are you talking about this this is creating expectation for the new the new release without going into like the exact model yes there's a there's a Dracula and he
has around seven cats with him and each of his cats has a personality and a special superpower but it's not really a superpower they're just like normal cats right um but they've got their own personalities and like I'm we're going to be creating like a series of scenes with all the cats and Dracula in model form right um so Lord knows how much it's going to cost me to cast but um and obviously these cats I think could be really good for conversions because they're so characterful like you could easily take those two cats and paint that as a standalone thing I think it's got so much character um so go yeah the heist thing obviously it's not a uh well it's not obvious this isn't one of the sculpts we had but like I just had loads of ideas of different situations that cats could be put in and this one was they were doing a heist and Dracula was like just about to get the Gem from this like laser thing and it happened that one of the security guyss left out some of like the world's finest milk or
something and a yarn ball and then the cats have left him and they're drinking this milk and he's like what the fuck so I I didn't realize it but it actually is quite similar to Paw Patrol in that regard um that's why I'm getting confused with the conversation I don't know if you're telling yeah none none none of this is was consciously influenced by po patol I can't say that much but yeah um I am very much excited and I think we're going to do kickstarters for some of these releases just to just to get the exact number down we've already got like 50 cars each of of them but it would be good so they are ready to go but I think I'd like to do it properly so two the two examples you had uh were getting a lot of interest weren't they on day two when you put them out the Headless Dragon was getting less interest I will admit um yeah but when I when I showed some pictures of the whole thing with the head they said oh that's really nice it changes a lot yeah shit I've got especially because most of the
emotion is in the dragon's head like yeah it's very funny that the brand is dragon head and then you don't have a dragon head in your figure um so this is I mean I've enjoyed the waffle right but we could have been in a pub for this conversation so yeah I'm thoroughly enjoyed dragon head but I wish I could buy more have you laid down the Taskmaster for this week yeah paint for 15 minutes every day talked about task master yeah [Laughter] course literally yeah sorry check check the uh the downloads for that a long one it's not even it's just cuz you would have normally left an hour ago now and me and AR now would have been picking up a slack for you I've started to realize me leaving after an hour is just the optune moment to just check out sweet spot the it's called The Lazy spot L
that's what it's really called it's that I don't want to do any work spot um well that concludes it's not I I I will freely admit I think now we can say it we are back um we we wanted to avoid saying that Concept in case we you know cuz we'd come back four times I realized just I think people people realized that we are back well that you are back right after six month six weeks well yes but I just I I was I had the baby next door and you were like are we recording and I was I realized we're back cuz I didn't even think to ask cuz I just knew we would record at this time on this day and we're we're really now in the in the jelly of the mode kind of kind of think yeah I know I noticed that when AR sent the message says are we recording today I just automatically assumed yeah now 8 o' we're recording so I'd only message if I wasn't so I think yeah we're at that level now that's what I mean and I I'm are Nows to thank for that
basically and and yeah these these shows are genuinely easy and a joy to record compared to the rig Ram that we had sorry L it's it's funny because I I do the least talking but then for some reason you just needed to me to be here for you to to the podcast I think you're the funny you're the the voice of reason you're the you're the P You're the glue that holds the chips together you're you know the it it does change it does it sounds silly it does it sounds silly like just but it does change a d Dynamic drastically it did it did literally breed new life into it because yeah yeah it did yeah we we I think we were ready and I think also you know Life's a series of waves and trees and whatever and like where I was before I just think it's funny that now I don't want to film anymore at shows
cuz bring a little dictaphone we can record a show but just running around with that camera just as I think now they're my real holidays since I've moved before I always knew that I could just come and see you guys whereas now I'm like that's the one of the few opportunities I actually get to see and you know uploading on YouTube for 400 views and people telling you you're fucking yeah I think well that that that fresh perspective as well because obviously we've got the segments now yeah suggestion I don't know and and and and going I don't know what that was I came up with that and going from losing the shackle of YouTube where we went we're not bothering with YouTube anymore we're going to a podcast and that was Arnell convincing us saying no trust me this is a better format it's less work and it has it has taken off so yeah uh in the in the short space of
time that Anna's joined us he's uh made it better who would have guessed yeah we've definitely got from rad to Rick's I think and I don't mean like we're getting money I I mean metaphorically speaking I feel like we're all in a really good place for the show Anna wasn't here I look forward to doing the show now before Lana would message me five minutes before and like Jamie do we really have to film like I'm sick of I'm sick of it and and now it's like it's it's the joy of it well I said to you the problem with me is we' spent five years doing it I spent so much time doing it that I couldn't walk away but I wanted to walk away it was weird it it like it was like a marriage whereby I've invested so much in this this this relationship with Jamie I can't walk away from it I've got to give it another go but it just wasn't working and now we've had a kid I suppose yeah we've got we got to stay
together F or he he's marriage counselor he's our marriage counselor I think we yeah we've gone to meet him and he just facilitates discussion so we can continue remaining with one another I feel like when um when our Now talks it's a few words maybe I don't know if that's true I would like to I mean I assume I talk more but I'd like to get one of those things that can break down who says how many words in the episode do you know what I mean you can get like so we could have like a I surely do I surely do the least I think maybe they are more on topic like I don't know how to to break how to talk out of topic it's something that it's not in my brain I don't either actually I'm quite good at that I think so what what he basically said is Jamie shit I've got a few words but I'm but I'm surgical with them and you use so many to say so yeah well I learned that from from my
father I didn't he didn't he's he's more like you L my dad gets so annoyed at me he's like Jamie what do you mean say like if you say that that's what I think you mean because you said it and I'm like yeah but come on like in what context why would I say that thing and he goes I don't know I'm not you in your brain I'm like all right give it a rest mate um I've got to say say now that I know you better I know I've got a better understanding of when to dismiss stuff and when I know you're joking but there is still that I would say as high as 20% where I still can't read whether you're pulling my chain or whether you're being serious and you mugged me off a couple of times at SMC and the Joy on your face when you pulled one over I still say now you could go to SMC or a painting competition and win nothing think and he wouldn't be bothered as long as you've mugged me off three times that's the real that's the real Win For You The Joy on your yeah
the visible draw in your face where you think got him got him again you love it I think winds me up even more which you love even more I think as long as as long as it's all fun and fair games and all that then I'm all right with it I I never want to like actually hurt your feelings or make you know go home and then you tell neat and you're like Jamie made me cry again and she's like come on darling come here no I think I think if I can yeah I think a big part of of being in a relationship is being able to mug each other off I think that if you were not able to mug each other off it's a oneway it's a oneway street I don't mug you off you do you you maybe mug me off in a different way like you you do the mugging off where you're like Jamie doesn't pain oh yeah look Lono that's for you that's a gift to get you back up to full strength deliberately left them there could get better he left oh I think I've had some today Lono left me um 60 One A
Day chewable vitamin C's uh because he said you look like shit and you're always ill so no because you because you were very ill yeah I'm still I'm still I'm still not recovered actually yeah you're at that point where you've got young kids where your body just is battling because you just don't get arrested and you can't recover so you go look after yourself now I sound like your wife she's been trying to get me to do V for a really long time and then you come along and leave some V SE she's like she she was like I don't I don't I literally have been trying to get you to I've bought you so many and then liel leaves a box for you and you're chowing them down every day yeah sometimes I am and and what's worse is every time I open this bottle I think you so it's like anyway so um everyone that has been probably one of the best shows I think we've ever done how do you think do you think it
was good yeah well loner was about to quit for real so well not oh in the show or in the I saw him on the edge yeah yeah yeah when when he had his hand in his face and he was like that I was surprised by that I must say cuz comedy gold so that was your episode hobby room essentials obviously we've moved to um we moved now to Spotify so keep it real never said that well I've said that a couple of times ironically um Last Words um it was fun uh looking forward to record the next one yeah yeah yeah it was um interesting being here till the end for once Jam you it's finally that you do well it may or may not happen but an now and I are thinking of doing a second show um that would be more focused on 40K or
or the Hobby and so there a fly or something on my face um and the Q&A did we talk about this ask you and I did yeah do you not not remember oh okay you don't remember okay well our Now doesn't remember so we we might not do it it was basically I said that when our now Lor leaves we just finish the show and then we record ah right because yes yes yes to just separate the 40K and and they askar now we could just do like a a small mini podcast with just us but obviously this one went on so anyway um I thank you all and I love ice cream so yeah you do thanks uh see you next week guys see you next week cheers
