We are probably the best podcast in the world. >> The most professional for sure. >> Easily the most professional. If anything, I dare say Oh, I have to hit the other button. Hold on. Oh, wait. There you go. Oh, shit. The wrong one. The best podcast in the world. There you go. Enjoy that intro, everyone. If you're new listeners, you might be wondering why we are so um inept and um devoid of any kind of uh professionalism. >> There's no new listeners. I don't think you have to.
>> That's Yeah, you're right. I don't know why I'd think it. Well, no, we had a new one in Discord, >> that's true, >> right? And he is new one. >> Well, he's the seventh. I do believe he is the seventh >> listener, >> which means I'm going to have to annoyingly upgrade all the t-shirts I've had made. Um, >> yeah. I was going to think like what I mean at this rate we're going to need to be like I'm the 25th listener. >> No, they drop off, don't they? They they they that's that's >> how they replace each other. >> Yeah. The consistency is when you have an intro like that, you know, you lose like we we we lost what was it?
Something stupid 300 um subscribers when we when we did that AI picture that I uploaded. and and we've still been losing them since. We lose like 10 a day or something, right? So, it's impressive to be honest with you. Um and and and ironically, when I stopped posting videos and we did your journey, Martin, it's the first time in months that our our subscribers actually went up. >> So, welcome everybody. >> Do more journeys. >> Yeah, right. I actually forgot that I really want to do that. Um, so, um, of course we have an abundance of things planned, a insane, like you guys, you guys are in for an absolute treat in in the amount that we that we have planned.
Yeah. I can't I can't I can't express in words how much we have planned. Um >> people people would would value us a lot more if they knew how much we prepare. Like >> if they knew if they really knew how much we prepare >> this was how how is it possible that everything comes out so beautifully when when this absolute pieces of shit didn't prepare anything >> well >> prepare more than I would say on average Olympic athletes. Yeah, >> but you think that they're training hard every week before these episodes come out.
>> We're in podcast mode. >> So the the funny thing is >> six days of preparation for one day recording. >> We actually don't we quit our jobs to concentrate. No. Right. Like the reality is is we don't we we prepare so little that I think if people knew how little we actually prepared they would be impressed. >> That's what I'm saying. >> Yeah. Right. rather than rather than thinking we prepare so much that they're impressed. >> No, no, no, no. That's I was literally saying this. >> Yeah. And and the reason why we have so much prepared that we can't tell you is because we literally have nothing prepared. So today's episode we have I mean some things come automatically,
right? We're back to the older format. This is episode 9. We are in deep now. I don't think we've got past episode 12 before for a season 16. Who knows? Someone else tell us, please. >> We're nine episodes into the fourth season and it's mid-March. This season is going to be like >> maybe I think I think we did like 16 or or something in the second season. I don't know. >> Yeah, that was rubbish though, wasn't it? That season was shit. Um, so thought of the day.
>> Oh, like you want to kick off immediately? >> No, no. I mean, we can. We totally can, but I'm I'm telling you what is in the episode. Okay. >> Okay. Okay. >> We have the new real actual first game show we've ever had. Right. Faction Feud. It's like it's the website I built. Okay. >> Oh, nice. >> It tracks our scores. So, we'll start nil nil now. Okay. I can I can pick I've written an admin system for it. Okay. It's good. And it it you I click I have I am on a panel when you guys and you'll see the face of it, but I will be at the back controlling the strings. Okay? But I'll still say the questions out loud, right? And we have a we have a scoreboard. We have we have all the possible answers and when when you give me an answer, I'll click it and it will go and then it will give you the right one. It's fucking good.
>> So we will all see the reason why you don't paint. So um um we have task masters. This is a very active task masters would be my um my uh ren fucking rundown of what this task master we have >> well we have taskmassive what do you mean >> task master's two months task masters it feels kind of passive right you do it once >> you paint for a day and a half whereas this is like do as many as you can >> and it finishes in now 13 days from recording >> um >> crunch time Please like, subscribe, and share. It really helps out the channel.
Um, >> who are you? >> Well, I was about to say somebody said on the Discord that uh if you upload it and let it uh process for two days and then release it, YouTube know who to give it to cuz they'll understand what the episode's really about. So, I was like, let me just throw that nit. We're going to we're going to upload today and I'll release it on Thursday, recording Tuesday. I have to say I fucking love that it's daytime. Seeing our faces in light. It really It's amazing.
>> We But we always do it. >> I know. But it just makes me so happy. Like the the fact that we get a daytime, it's like I sometimes think we were designed to be on this earth. That's what I think. And I think that we've like we've evolved to really appreciate and see those things. You know, it's only when it's gone that you really miss it. And if the sun was gone, >> when it's Yeah, when the sun's gone. No, I agree with that. It is getting lighter and that's nice. >> But then again, the evenings bring such a nice difference as well. Like there's there's no bad time of the year is what I'm saying. Like except for maybe like a week in February.
Well, >> yeah, February sucks. >> There it depends on where you are, I guess. >> Very true. >> Those 40 degrees in summer, >> right? This is true. I I take it back. Summer is the worst time of year. And now I live in in England, London. Um and and it gets to like 42° and my balls are sweaty cuz I don't wear underwear. It's like it's tough. But then again, right, I've learned a trick. Okay, guys, this is a life hack.
Wet your clothes and then put them on, right? And that initial bit, you'll be like, but then in like 15 fucking minutes, that t-shirt's dry and that's annoying. But you've you've you have lowered your core body temperature and after about 12 seconds of wearing that wet t-shirt, I'm not talking soaking wet, so it's dripping and you're trying to work and stuff, but like you can ring it out a bit. Yeah. Um, >> yes, that's probably a good apt description.
Golden Demon, my favorite of all the uh painting competitions. Um, so that's it. That's all. That's literally all I've got planned. Okay,
>> we don't have news today. I do have >> Oh, we got big news. Big news. Great shout, guys. I'm just happy to be here that I'm I'm distracted by the, you know, >> yeah, you are still the most uh joyous person I've ever met in my life, which is it still surprises me. >> Well, I think there's just there's a lot to if you let somehow your like innocent person, you know, how we all have different people inside us. Yep.
Um, I was gonna say like gays and women more, but Yeah. Right. Yeah. >> Like >> everything you can find joy in everything like >> you know the feeling when you get in your car when you if you have a car and then you sit down and it's pissing down with rain outside that feeling of getting in the car is amazing. You're like, >> and it feels it feels like you're somehow some sort of creature in a cocoon and you're like everything outside you is shit, but you're this little happy motherfucker. Do you know what I mean?
>> Yeah. >> I can't say the same if you fall over and get shit in your mouth. I think that that's a bad thing. Do you know what I mean? That's something where I would be like, I'm struggling to see a silver lining here. So >> I think I think you would you you of all people would find not a silver lining in like specifically that brief moment when there is shit in your mouth, but you would take something good away from it. I think you're the kind of person who would later on you would be like actually that was the best thing that happened to me today because of this and this and this.
>> I don't know how you how that would happen, but I'm absolutely sure it would. >> I mean you would literally explain it happy and laughing and we all laugh. So yeah, that would that would not have happened your day. That would just be like an absolutely insane thing happened to you. >> Oh my god. Have we had the conversation about ruining days? Have we had that yet? >> Have we have we spoken about So >> I don't think so. >> Oh god. We should go into the episode. Really? >> It's fine. We already have it. >> Yeah, we should torture our our Patreons with this kind of stuff, >> right?
>> Oh, you're right. This is perfect. No, but this is this is the only reason I turn up to the podcast >> to do what we're doing now. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> More or less. >> That checks out. >> Yeah. Like >> Yeah. I mean, >> so if we remove this from the podcast, I don't have a reason to do the podcast basically except for spend time with you. >> Yeah. I think I think that goes for the listeners as well. All >> three of you at this point. Seven have the the the the what's that word where there's like more than one thing facets. We are a multifaceted podcast >> in that people like listening to our now to Martin and to me but for different reasons.
>> Mhm. >> Amazing, isn't it? We are. It's really just like you're eating a plate of food and it's like a lot of salt and you need some sweet disgusting spicy. It's exactly that thing of like you want >> Where did that Jamie that wanted to have a tight ship went? >> Oh shit. >> He went away. >> We do have a tight ship. We We We >> I'm too happy to have a tight ship. >> Fuck that. Right. Okay. So, the news. Boom. Who's got news? I've got news.
>> I've got news. Yeah, >> I'm pregnant. Um, my news is that man was released by GW. >> Y >> good. >> That's your Do you have a Do you Do you have thoughts on it? Do you Do you want it? >> Do you want to talk about it? You want Trying to jump? Yeah, you could jump in. Not a big deal. So, I need to central align myself somehow. This is this is the new release. Now, I actually didn't realize how much the second version looks it really does just compound our belief that they are just making 4K versions of of everything basically.
Mhm. Um >> yeah, we talked about we talked about like Sangor and uh well maybe we didn't but there is the Sangor and Asterath for the Blood Angels release which I know especially are now loves their latest Blood Angels >> and I think both the Sangor and Astarath feel like wasted opportunities to do something else. Maybe this is a little bit like that. But I also do like this. I like this more because it feels like a an improvement on the same.
>> Yeah. >> While on the other ones it's it's I I don't think it's an improvement. But >> the Blood Angels, right? >> Yeah. In in this case, it's so similar. So so so similar. >> I mean, it's identical. >> It's almost identical. >> Yeah. It's just it literally is identical basically with some movement and some >> when you said like the 4K upgrade. I mean, yeah, it's it's easy to look at all these details like the flowing cloak and the sash and how like just nicer everything is. And I mean those are like almost objective upgrades or improvements, >> right? There's not much you can really say about like, oh, I prefer the newer version because it's better. Like clearly it is. I I really um I really like the third edition one. I guess we should call it the one on the top right.
Um so yeah, I'm a little bit like this was probably a a pose and an idea that was worth keeping. >> Um I I think there's a few interesting changes. Like I I kind of miss No, wait. I don't. Never mind. I couldn't see the sword, but I just realized it's right there on the on the left. I was wondering where his sil is. >> Yeah. I wonder if >> um I wonder if the this the little symbol right on his uh in the middle of the sash, they've changed that to a black temper cross. I wonder if that's a black temper, I think, because he's best buds with >> Hell.
Interesting. It is interesting because on the two other versions he has it. Um a part of me like thinks it's great. I see the benefits. I'd be a tiny bit annoyed if I already had the old model and they have just graded it, right? Like like I see I see it being a good thing but also a bad thing. It's it's basically like my Phoenix Lords. The Phoenix Lords that I like the most >> were the more slightly tweaked from the old ones and more dynamic. And obviously this has more dynamicism, whatever. But maybe a new pose would have been cool. I don't know. It's a lose-lose actually, isn't it? If you're the if you're the studio, if you do a pose and everyone says it's shit, then they'll be like, "I like the old pose more. You should have done that." And >> Yeah.
>> And if you if you do the same pose, you're going to have people complain that it's too similar to the old one. >> Yeah. I I'm It's It's interesting as well with I think a lot of people would go like, "Well, that's the classic pose. That's the like the OG pose." But it's always like, well, there's a previous version and what is, you know, where does that line for like classic things go? I mean, that y the one on the top right is >> 25 years old, 26 years old. So like it's a it's been around for a while. Um, >> yeah. I >> But the one on the on the far left to me is like that's that's more of kind of closer to that sort of old hammer vibe that maybe they want to flirt with that type of nostalgia these days more.
>> Yeah. Well, yeah, that was my news. >> Nice paint job as well. It's a very nice paint job. >> Yeah. >> Oh, you're welcome.
>> Do you have more news that requires this monitor open? Oh, I I don't think I do. Do you are now? >> No, I don't think so. >> We don't really have any more um >> releases to talk about any new cool shit. >> Yeah, I don't know how long we spent on that, but um I don't like I don't think I'm going to buy one. >> No one asked me, but you know, just telling you. >> But do you do you I mean, you generally don't buy anything that isn't Elder anymore, right?
>> Not true. Mine Carter. I wish that was true. You should see my um Have you seen my cupboard? >> Uh I I'm I have no idea where you're at with like new releases and impulse buying. >> Say what you will saying. I I I want to know where where do you stand with like when a new thing comes out that isn't Elar? >> It's hard to say. >> A lot of it. >> Like um I'm going to keep trying to talk until I can find a photo to demonstrate. Um, where do you know what I mean? I'm I'm I'm literally stalling for time right now. Um, yeah. So, >> what about you are now? How often do you do you see a new release >> that isn't for your one of your weird current army projects that I guess you have or when how often do you buy something cuz you're like, I like that thing. I might want to paint it at some point in the future.
>> Specifically, almost. >> Yeah, almost never. >> That's what I thought. >> Yeah. You're too chill, son of a bitch. >> If I Yeah, if I want to paint something, I'll buy it when I want to paint it. But I know that if I buy it before, it's just uh it the the chances of it being in the on the box forever is Yeah. almost 100%. >> So until I am going to paint it, yeah, I'm not going to buy anything. Just it's just because the Yeah. I don't I don't know. I've never I've never done it.
>> Yeah. I mean, you you could you could argue that's like a healthy way to be, couldn't you? In a in a way. >> Yeah, I would I would very much argue that that's healthy. That sounds like you have a um a very reasonable relationship with your hobby in general. Like you don't need to hoard things and pretend that that's part of the hobby. It doesn't it doesn't m make me happy to have >> because buying makes me happy for like an instant >> and I know that >> and I it's it's logical. So it's more like a logical thing like I know that it will make me happy for for a second >> but because I know it I I can just not do it.
>> Yeah. It's um it's it's interesting you um you say that. Oh, now because I don't obviously I mean screen uh screen three gallery. >> It's just interesting you should say that. So, so like we've been through you you've you've seen you went in the loft, right, Arnell? When I had my like the top top of it, right?
>> Um like it brings me huge joy to have a collection and I I've I've tried to like understand where it comes from. Um this could be a meat of it basically. um because it doesn't really make sense, right? Like I always think I'm um lo like I can think logically about some things, but this to me is it's it's very much like it's when when you take I realize this is just black screen. Just wait while my server loads. Um, like >> it's so much more than even I I I know how much it is and I'm still shocked when I see these photos.
>> Yeah. Like this like >> but this is this is two different things. If you want to get into what you were going to say. Go ahead. I was I was thinking of of a different aspect of it. >> Uh what's your Well, yeah. I mean I I I was going to jump in. Yeah. No, but I was wondering because this is your what I think anyone would would call a collection because you can't buy second edition boxes anymore. This is stuff that you were like, I'm going to look for this on I don't know, eBay and stuff. You're going to collect this to add to your collection. What I was wondering is just new releases like in the last 6 months. I see.
>> How much have you bought that isn't for >> your your current new like >> Okay. So, you've got Yeah. Okay. I see. So, you're literally buying everything then. You've got the Space Wolves, the Slish. Okay. Yeah. Well, that answers my question. You buy pretty much everything that comes out. >> Yeah. So, >> cool. >> Yeah. Basically, um >> Wow. That's Yeah, it's even more than I thought. That's incredible. C >> Can I ask you a question without uh seeming um >> why?
>> Why? So, >> but but I'm interested in the answer. Do you do you even notice yourself doing it? >> Yeah. Yeah. It's a deliberate thing, right? >> I'm just going to scratch my eye. This is like a power play thing, right? When you're in an interview and you ask how their day is going first. Um, and you say, "How was your journey in?" And they're like, "What?" Um, so it's very the first all this started out, so so I've only been buying this for like a year and a half or something, right? Less so, I think, consistently on every release. And um, it was when I was gaming and I started gaming with more armies. So I my my the initial genuine hope was that I will get these armies built and then I'll be able to play with them, right? And then I was buying more shelves to have like multiple floors of of armies and and then I just fell away from the hobby as we all know completely.
>> And then I was like, "Oh shit, do you know what? I really like diaramas." >> And you know what will really be annoying is if I don't have this army to do this diarama with. M >> and now I've now I'm like if I buy it I I keep it. I at least I have it compared to the old addiction that I had where you don't come you know. So, so spunking like 140 quid on a single box feels like the biggest bargain in the world because you get something and 140 quid, not to say what I was addicted to, but I was doing like two grand hands like and and got used to like ruining my life that way. So, to spend two grand on a on a box of Warhammer, you can't do it. I' I'd fill up this shelf, right? This is like >> Yeah. Yeah. So, it's it's I'm still I'm actually getting to the point now where I'm not going to do it anymore because I have no room as you can see. So, I am now approaching the
limit of uh the the addiction that was clearly buying um Warhammer boxes. >> So, how uh that's interesting. You you had like the box there, the army box, and the spaces as well. So, at some point you were like >> you you were like, I'm gonna paint and I'm going to build and paint this and play games with. >> Yeah. And the thing is I was doing um like if you could you probably can semi see like here like this these guardian squads like there's 90 guardians I built in like a week.
>> Yeah, I remember you were talking about that >> or maybe two. Yeah. And and and like even my like my sweeping hawks like everything's just base colors. >> There's no fucking painting on it. But it meant that I knew I could build armies really really quickly. Um, my biggest bottleneck was finding like finding sand and that color brown for my basing. >> Yeah. >> Which now I've got down. But yeah, so I kind of believed that I would do it and now I'm now I'm at the point where I'm not. Um, yeah. So yeah, it's it I don't know if it's an addiction anymore. I guess it is when you buy 20 boxes.
Well, I mean for me it's like I do have everything that is Warhammer that I like, but it's my the the store is saving it for me, you know. >> So what? >> Oh, I store the shop. >> The store is storing it for me. So my storage unit can collect it whenever you need it. Yeah, >> exactly. I just have to pay a um a fee to subtract it from the But it's literally that.
>> Yeah. And that's where my fear is because I'm like um this box now I mean I didn't like buying these single characters but when you buy the army box I got like the two characters and blah blah blah and blah blah blah. And I mean we've had this conversation. I agree with you on that like buying buying something at discount on something you don't need versus spending 50 on one thing you're still spending maybe 110 more than you needed to. >> It's not even their marketing cuz they don't fucking market it.
>> No, but it is it is how the how how capitalism works. they will make you buy the more the the the biggest amount possible in the shortest amount of time. That's how it works. How it's just how the world works. >> Um I mean games work are like notoriously uh averse to discounts anyway. Like they don't even they know they don't have to lower prices or do bundles or anything like that. They just >> maybe army deals like that you get a little bit of a discount on the characters. These are cool because you get the codeex with them. But um now I'm not playing actually. It's pointless.
And now I built a website that has all the rules for free. I don't need to buy codeexes anymore. Um so that's that's that situation. This thing uh I I'm annoyed. I I don't know where the actual like photo of the the move is. That's what I was looking for. like there's um anyway, long story short, I am selling all of my collection in the UK. So, I I've kept maybe two of these or three of these boxes, right?
And then 25 of them are going to uh troll trader. Um, >> so I've I've like got my head around this concept of like letting go where and this has been like a it's my new t-shirt, guys. Um, >> yeah. I mean, you're just looking at my photos now. So, that there are all the photos I took of the collection. Um, and like Oh, wrong one. Hold on. There. And that's the that's the selling path. So it's like 25 of these boxes, right?
>> And I thought for the longest time and when I go through like you that was it. The question was the happiness thing. Okay. >> Um it feels like some weird um like safety net that I had here that I always felt like um I could go like I'd look forward to going to my mom's and part of that would be that I just go and rumage around these collections that I forget that exists. I mean, obviously I know it, but I door just blowing. Um, go the other way. There you go. Um, like any I can't remember what I'm saying.
>> I can I can go back. >> You enjoy having the collection. So, you can you can you can actually >> Yeah. And I can I rumage through this >> and I'm like there's so much cool shit, right, that I've I've I have no memory of having even though every time I go there I see them. >> And um I've tried to work out as I was going through. Now I've now I've let go of the collection again cuz I sold like three4s of it before. So this is like a core of the original connection. Um and I can't work out why it's important to me, why I feel happiness when I go and look at this because it is just things in boxes, right? But I I think it's that that's perfectly normal and it happens to everyone. It's just that you have the money to do it.
>> But >> and it's also it's not just that you don't need to have memories specifically of those things. It reminds you of maybe your childhood or where the hobby was 20 years ago or whatever it is. I think that's that makes a lot of sense. I have a similar collection. It's not as much >> old Warhammer as that, but I have a similar I also have a storage unit full of boxes full of stuff and wherever wherever whenever I go through all that, I'm reminded the same way you are. But >> and it's like a nice feeling. It's nice to have.
>> But why is that's what I'm like I don't understand why it's cuz I know I'm never going to paint this stuff. Is it because I associate it with money and I'm like I know I could flog it at any point and get loads of money if I needed it or or I'm like and I don't think it's the money thing because I never wanted to sell this. >> It's the same reason we enjoy the miniatures at all. I mean whenever you see something new and cool that you want to buy. There might be some like pragmatic reason to that. You might want to buy it and build it and paint it and play games with it or do a diorama like you said or whatever it is. But it's also just like you like the thing.
>> Yeah. I think it's just it's it's like the hoarder of um thing. It's like a dragon. Um a dragon likes to sit in a pile of gold because because he knows he has it. And I >> It's like power almost. >> It It is. Yeah, it is. It's like a huge pile of things that you like that are yours and that you can do whatever you want with them. And it's I think it's a natural feeling, but most people don't have the power to to to satisfy that.
>> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I mean, if if you if you had a big house uh or, you know, and you could afford uh a big a space in a big house to turn into like an actual museum >> with big glass cabinets and you could put all of your all of these boxes, have them nicely displayed in there. Wouldn't you do that so you could walk around and look at them and enjoy it? >> Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I feel like I shouted there. That was always my dream like um to have everything on display, but like that makes sense. There's logic to that, right? Like hold on. I don't know if I did it back then. No, it's the shittest picture I could have picked. Um, I used to have it all on display in my room and but you it's like the psychological thing you know that the famous saying that like if you see a hot woman on the street like somebody's bored of sleeping with her because everybody like you you get married you get used to stuff you you and so it's all it's all about like
perception like the fact that like >> all these things move hands and you sell boxes and I'm letting go of all stuff that's that's sealed and I already have done a load of it and I'm I'm kind of okay with it compared to um like I never thought I'd want to I'd like be like okay so that was my how I had it on display before mine I'd be like okay with getting rid of it whereas at this moment in 2016 nothing like it would have been a travesty if that makes sense. M >> yeah I I guess like I feel like I shouldn't I don't feel guilty about it but I'm I I struggle to understand the psychological things of why I get so I mean saying it's a dragon. Yeah I get it but like why like do you know what I mean? If I if I had I often find that when you when you strip everything back and you're left with nothing um you feel more refreshed like let's
say when you clear out or or you move house or something, right? Or or you lose all your progress in a game and then you start from scratch. There's so many more like your your focus becomes easier to focus on something. That makes sense. Like whereas and and and all this stuff that you had in the background, you just forget about it. It's gone and you're like, "Okay, cool." So, if I if I got rid of all of my Warhammer right now, all the paints I own, every model I've ever painted, would I feel sadness? Maybe a little bit every now and then, but not really. I'd be like, "Okay, sweet. Now I can really focus on what I want to do. I can make the perfect collection." Like, so if I'm able to like do that, and that's kind of what I've done by selling it, but I kept a few boxes and I'm recreating it here.
So, yeah, I'm um I'm basically fucked. I think it's the same as I mean it's the same feeling as hoarding that because you said safety net and I was thinking what does why does someone hoard stuff junk >> and it's because they may use it later or they you know they they are they need that safety net of feeling that I don't know they will be covered if they need it and it's probably the same I I to be fair I have no idea because I don't experience this very much so Well, when you bought that booster box, you didn't hoard it, though, did you? So, the analogy doesn't really work. You just opened it. Yeah.
>> So, you've never collected anything or no?
>> Um I I do like collections, but again, I feel like they the logical part of me um doesn't let me do it because I know I will move on. So, and don't get me wrong, I do have good feelings when I collect something and when I buy something, but I know this will fade. So, I the moment I buy something for collection, it's like I'm I'm just literally wasting time and money in something that I will enjoy for a few days and then I will, you know, sell or or not care about again. So, it's it's I guess it's a logical part of me that is there all the time and it it's instead of being suppressed by the the nice feeling, it it wins to the nice feeling.
So, the opposite >> probably better. I realized um the safety net feeling is what it is is uh when I go into that shed or the garage or it it basically I get the exact same emotions I do when I buy something. So that's what it is. I go in there and I look and it's the same as getting a new shipment from a parcel that you were excited to see. So I guess now I've worked that out. I need to work out why I like that so much. And uh and like is it superficial? I don't think it's superficial. I think it's something slightly more deep. I also like my childhood, we had no money growing up, right? I think my mom and dad, they had like a grand every quarter or something to feed the three kids and themselves cuz that was their grant that they'd get and they were both studying. So, we never had I mean we but the thing is as a kid I never felt like we ever missed anything. There was never a point where I was like, "Oh shit, I want to have this toy or that toy." And then like when I did Games Workshop, it was not like when I started getting
into Games Workshop, that's when my um my mantra of everything works out started to come into my brain because like everything I ever wanted then I could That's not true though. Not everything. I got enough that I was happy. So I'd do a paper round. I get 10 quid a week and that would buy me a box of Warhammer. And then on my birthday like when I I get blah blah blah, right? So but I couldn't buy uncontrollably. So I don't know when that uncontrol and it might just be the add. >> Yeah. I don't think exactly. I don't think that's a choice. I think if you if you spent as much money as you could when you had £10 a week >> Yeah.
>> when that turns into way more then you spend that much. It doesn't have to be it doesn't have to be necessarily like control or not control. It's also just >> being like allowing yourself to do what you can do. And then when that sort of explodes a little bit and there's suddenly no real limits, then you don't >> Yeah. Yeah. You're fucked basically. >> Yeah. You're kind of >> Yeah. Yeah. Well, relatively speaking, um spending money on this hobby is is is far cheaper than um the other things that I've had. Like drastically outweigh like I have money in my bank account now, which is probably like the first time I've had in um although legally speaking obviously I have just just I mean it's not a lot.
Um, so I think I'm in a much better place having had those like bad experiences moneywise cuz now I'm not uh, you know, 40, 50, 100, 250 grand in debt kind of thing um, at any one time and it feels like it's much more controlled. I can buy you know I can spend 500 quid a month on Warhammer and it it doesn't ruin my life. Um, like I spent like 100 grand on Dragon Head. I think if you if if you including the custom elder sculpts I was doing for myself like and that was over um a 3-year period like that's not a normal amount of money and I can't afford to do that now. I'm much more conscious of of where I'm at. But um like when you when you take a step back and you do those numbers even for that that you know was um like good really I shouldn't I shouldn't have done that you know.
>> Yeah. But still you spending like 5k probably is the same as me spending I don't know 500. >> Yeah. Not not probably not now. Um in the in the current like climate. >> I I would argue that it is >> okay. >> Most because I know you and I know how much magic you've bought. Um >> yeah that is true. But yeah, but then I'm I'm like I'm selling the whole Warhammer collection to get >> Yeah, I know. But but that's part of that's part of you, right? That's part of your economy.
>> Yeah. >> Uh and and I don't have all these things to sell because I haven't >> um you know, >> so your whole worth, >> your whole net worth or how however it's called >> it, it allows you to to do these things and Yeah. Okay. and to not being uh >> well so the other issue I have is um because everything does always work out I don't necessarily and I have learned that you sometimes that saying isn't like it's it's it's still relative to the things that you need to apply to like now everything you did work out and I did spend and I did owe like 550 grand and stuff um and everything did work out, but it took 10 years to work out, if you know what I mean. Like it it wasn't like, oh, it just worked out next week. It was like you have to wait a while for that thing to work out, but it it worked out.
And and if anything, you learned from it. Um, but the the I get I do get what you're saying and I I don't have any like I think I I would like it in a way. I don't have any regrets or or annoyances about it. No, I I think I' I think I've learned lessons and I'm exactly where I want to be on like spending right now. Um and that is good.
>> Well uh uh something that I noticed is that you are very conscious about what you spend. Even if you spend a lot you still >> compared to before. >> Well compared to anyone a normal person. >> Oh >> but I I still I think that and and I >> is that you are conscious. >> One sec. Yeah, I was saying that I think you are conscious when you spend and you don't want to spend and actually I think you are afraid of spending now a little bit.
>> I hope so. >> I I heard you saying that you're afraid of spending or or you so it's a slight change on your attitude I think in this sense. >> Yeah. I think if you can't learn from that lesson uh there's some I mean it was already bad and if you don't learn from it then it's borderline terrible. Um, yeah. Yeah. I I I I hope hopefully I have. Um, yeah. I I'm I would really love to know what collections other people have. Um, and how much they have and like, you know, from those seven guys that we know or strangers, I guess, some one-time listeners, >> you know.
>> Um, >> yeah. I I'm I'm curious about where people draw the line between like bits box and collection as well cuz you mentioned the term sealed and it being and I would agree that that's where it becomes a collection is like buying or saving I guess sealed boxes and having something in for me anything that I would count towards collecting would be like from 20 years ago not >> maybe >> just a random box of Space Marines from 5 years ago, you know.
>> Yeah. Well, I'm I'm always amazed at the fucking timelines. I look at um boxes or albums or um things and I'm like, "Wow, 2007 like that feels like something that's modern and actually it's 19 years ago and you're like, >> "Yeah, it's crazy." >> Um yeah, and I with this stuff I I don't know. You always sound like just like an old fart. But it's it's funny when I hear someone's like, "Yeah, you know, I I these are like the OG old Primaris Marines from Dark Imperium." I was like >> OG years ago, but it's not though cuz it's eight years ago.
>> It's already eight. Yeah. And that's that is that is hilariously weird, isn't it? >> Like the Rafe Knight 2012, >> I think. 2013. >> That sounds right. Yeah. >> And that's like Yeah. 13 years ago. But I I remember that coming out and being like that's and I look at it and it still feels new to me >> and like that's that new Wraith Knight that just came out. >> Yeah, it's a it's one of the more recent Elder For sure. >> Um so that I think that's the a part of me thinks would my life would I be happier and then I'm like would I be happier if I got rid of all my collection? Like but actually I think it's the wrong question. I think would it would you have more focus in life if you didn't have these things would I would you know >> but I guess that's a hobby as as any any other hobby and your mind would go to another hobby so I don't think that that changes but because I don't I don't understand this I don't I don't relate to any of this in in the sense that I
don't need that box nostalgia >> and I don't because I don't understand Yeah. >> Yeah. But I'm not doing it from nostal I've got both sides, right? That in my >> Well, the current one isn't nostalgia. The current one is models that I bought in the last two years. >> Yeah, I agree. But when I hear you talk about collections and seal collections, my mind goes to why and why would I do it? either speculation, either nostalgia, >> and I struggle to find a third one.
>> So, but but honestly, are now I mean with with a lot of things, you you are able to tap into logic and reason. That's all it is. You you you look for something that makes sense and that's how your life, >> but how you shape it. >> But that's born from necessity, isn't it? But I I do enjoy, for example, art collections. So my my cabinets of figures, I enjoy them immensely. So it's not like and this has zero logic because it's I would never do anything with them.
So it's just an amalgamation of painted things. >> But with with products, I don't I don't understand it. >> But if you had Sorry. Well, no. And and what I'm asking is or what I would like to know if you if you can answer that is what's the difference between like collecting boxes for you and collecting artwork because you have both. Is it the same? Is it and and if it's not, where does it come from each of them?
You know, because I don't I don't really get it. Ah, we're gonna have to jump back to the gallery. So,
so I have a pretty big elder artwork collection like um and it started off in 2016 when I like emailed Jeff Taylor and was like, "Do you have this artwork still?" And he had a website, right, which sold all his artworks and it was Elder cover art from second edition and third edition. And I really wanted to get the third edition one. And they were £1,100, right, each each artwork. And they're huge. like they're like a meter by 60 cm each or something, maybe a bit more than a meter. Um, I couldn't really afford it. I didn't have much money really. I had a I had a decent paying job. Um, but still like a grand was a considerable I was like I can't just afford that right now. Um, and then I yeah messaged blah blah and then bought it and then that like somehow opened up the floodgates of realizing and not that many people were buying artwork back then. So you could get this piece that's worth a lot more now. And um and I only bought that because I loved those artworks so much.
There was nothing else. It was they're the things that I grew up with. And this has always been my favorite piece of art, which is the third edition codeex cover from Elder. Um which I could show I guess, but um someone convinced me to get the second edition first cuz it was more iconic, but I didn't really care about it as much cuz I wanted but anyway. And then maybe six months later, I came back and bought the third edition one. Um, so and I remember like opening that box and it was amazing and I put it straight up on my wall and I'd look at it for hours over the course of blah blah blah, right? Finding details I hadn't seen and how did you do it and blah blah blah. It still wasn't from an art perspective. It was just from a feeling perspective. Um, and at the same time I was collecting sealed boxes as well. Like that was like the peak 2016.
I think I started buying that stuff in like 2013. Um, and that the the boxes was purely driven on nostalgia and a feeling of missing out, right? Like um as a kid I couldn't get this, so I really want to have this so I can hold that box and and be like, "Holy shit, I've made it internally or some shit, right? I didn't need to do the gallery at this point. I could have just anyway." Um and then um and then you get to the point where you're buying like collections from people to know what however much it might be. And that feels amazing cuz you're like you're getting a bargain cuz people normally sell collections cheaper. And um you get home and you open up like these huge boxes and they're full of nostalgia and it's like, "Holy shit, this feels amazing." And then you start getting a collection that your room can't fit and you're packing boxes behind other boxes
on a shelf so you can and you put the best stuff at the front and then yeah, in a year this is still sealed boxes. You're like you you're only buying because you're buying. You're not buying anymore because this the hunt is the is the thrill, right? Right. It's got nothing to do anymore with like the boxes themselves. There's no more nostalgia really. You're you're like literally at the peak of my um purchasing, I was probably spending 5 hours on eBay a day. Like um I would literally I'd have the not filter, but I'd have the thing up and I'd hit refresh like every 5 minutes.
>> So So the hunt is the hobby >> basically. Yeah. At that point. But that's not how it started off. It started off with pure >> Yeah. Of course. >> Yeah. But that at that point. Yeah. And and and the hunt was the hobby and that was why I was able to collect like whatever the the I don't think I showed the picture off in the end, did I? Like um it was a kilo. I I weighed it, right? I don't think I've got the weighing scales on this photo, but it was literally um a a kilo of a kilo. A ton. >> A ton. >> It was a thousand kilos of Warhammer is what I had. And that's plastic and metal and um Okay. Yeah, I think I've got photos here. look cuz when I used to have cats.
Um I don't like the way it keeps bobbing up. So So yeah, basically this is this was like what it ended up as. And um obviously I've still got another like 40 boxes there to go through or some shit. And I still really liked having this collection. I never would have like I would have kept this collection if I had a big enough house. I never would have sold it and I would have just kept adding to it. Right. Um oh there's just a love letter there from my mother. Look, that that I think this personifies the whole thing and shows you really what the hunt was.
There's a sealed box inside shipping that I couldn't even be asked to open cuz >> I was like, "Yeah, fuck it. I don't need to open it cuz I don't care anymore." >> Uh so, so yeah. Um and selling selling when I sold like most of this in 2003 or four, it felt quite good, I have to say. I didn't I thought I had nothing left. >> 23 >> and I was like felt liberating in a way. I was like that's gone like oh yeah look you can see the weighing skills. Um that part of my life like whatever that thing was is like over. Um and obviously I found out I had shitload left that I just hadn't like collated or or gone through. Um, and even after all those lessons and all the addiction I had, like looking through these photos, I would like it back, ironically. But yes, it was literally the chase. It was it was emailing people, finding shops that might have closed, um, scrolling on eBay. So, so it it stopped becoming the hobby except
when I went and looked at the stuff I had, when I really like went into the loft, then it was still the hobby. Like I say now when I go through like this stuff I look through and I feel I feel like happiness but it's it it's some sort of fake bullshit happiness. No >> no everyone everyone would >> just think that that is a very normal feeling. I mean it's just a it's like it's a pile of things that you like. How how would you not >> Yeah, that's true. That is true. >> I think that kind of it answers the question as well of why you were doing it. And and uh like Ara was asking about the seal boxes. It's the hunt. It's finding something that someone else has and that's not easy to get >> and cheap.
>> Um, >> and don't you >> I think that that could be absolutely anything. I've always had a general I would say a general like blanket understanding of people collecting things because I've done it myself and I know that it's not the thing that you're interested in necessarily. >> It's collecting. >> Yeah. >> And what happens when you lose interest of that? aka what happened to me basically like >> yeah yeah but uh without going to the extreme just just as a as as um as a concept when you are collecting something and that that collection loses loses part of the charm once you have it I I assume >> yeah well that's so yeah that was where I was actually I've forgotten but that was where I was going with it like um and then the artwork as well so I mean you you all the all the gaming I've lost that. And then I replace it with Pokemon. And then I replace Pokemon with Magic. Um, and now I'm in Magic. And I'm doing the same thing, by the way, that I
did with Warhammer Seal that I am doing with Magic. Now I've got like a decent size collection. And I guess in me specifically, I'm like I'm so grateful to have these products that are still there compared to what the other addiction is where you literally all you end up with is is hollowess. And so it's not your question though is it right? You wanted >> No, because you are comparing you are comparing it how how it's better to to that the the other one and and I'm >> trying to understand from zero right from being a new person on earth why what what happens with that collections what gives you or or >> you you mean internally how do I feel looking at something that I care nothing for now or like do I sell it or Well actually my question is first if you care about it later uh maybe five years um after you've collected it what is your feeling you know >> well I mean a better example I mean maybe is is what happened to me in
painting because I wasn't painting to paint was I was painting to achieve something um because the answer on the sealed is I I I still fucking love the seal collection and I look at the photos and I'm like this is brilliant like like you I look at this and even though I was just there last week in my mom's flat, which is in England um house, I I have the exact same feelings uh that I always thought I would looking and going through and and Albert's there looking through and he's got the probably the similar feeling. Maybe maybe slightly different cuz it's not his, but he's looking through and really enjoying looking through, right? The same way I am. And I don't think that would ever go in this hobby. I stopped collecting. I haven't bought anything sealed for fucking years.
But I'm still there. And um like I was talking to the troll trailer lad and he was showing me photos of like this collection he has to go and pick up and I was extremely jealous. I was like, "Oh fuck, that's amazing." And he's been doing that for 15 years by. So I think the the availability stops and the reality kicks in that you can't keep doing it because a you don't have room and b you can't spend that much money anymore. But if I could go back to it, I would. But I've also got other hobbies that take up that fill that void, right?
Like right now I'm balls deep in magic and I want us to play ideally for eight hours a day. Um >> yeah, but but magic is different because we play with it. >> No, but it's Yeah, not really. >> I mean it it is and it's not obviously. You asked me one question at Darkest Sphere that I I it blew my mind >> and uh we were joking with the with the store guy. >> Yeah. and he he jokingly said something about the new thing that you did not even know what it was and then you you asked me um should I buy it and I was like no why why you don't even know what it is so why would you consider even buying it >> you know it's I I it blew my mind why would you consider buying like something that it was worth 300 or I don't remember, >> right?
>> It was like a box of I don't remember something oldish, >> but >> literally that I would never need or like >> Yeah, for sure. I mean, literally we we didn't even know what it was, >> right? >> And and you asked me that, should I buy it? And I was like, why would you? Well, >> feel sad. >> The question the question was not should I buy it. >> The question you were you were about to buy it. And then you stopped for a second and and was like, "Yes, should I?" >> I see.
>> I was like, "What? Why are you even considering?" >> Yeah. Well, that's because buying things I I've completely like I I bought 90 quid or 80 quid worth of magic when we were there, right? And I didn't even think to ask how much it was before tapping the thing. And then when I tapped, I was like, "Hang on, how much was that?" And he was we we both laughed and he laughed and everyone was just laughing and it was like um and and and I you said separate the uh I'm comparing but it's so hard to not compare because my whole view on on money is so skewed now. It's fucked because of all the stuff that I went through in that I don't hold importance of £500 at 600 whatever the 300 quid anymore >> because that Yeah.
>> Yeah. Well, because I know what it's like to to have loads of money and and then lose loads of money cuz I don't have that same income that I had. Not even half of what I was on back then, right? Um, but I don't feel any different from today as I did back then, if that makes sense. Like I don't feel like I've got less money. I don't feel like I had more money then. Might have been the things I was my head is fucking shiny. Um like so so yeah I mean 300 quid would have been like I probably would the thing is with magic I I have a lot of I buy something and it might go down let's say worst case 30% or something and then obviously inflation is making that slightly worse over time but it's like it's not a bad thing having a box of magic compared to Warhammer doesn't Warhammer deprecates a lot worse right you can you can't resell Warhammer in any capacity like Magic or Pokémon. So, I'm like I feel confident in buying these products cuz I know that the value is probably going to go up.
So, it's like it's it's I like spending money, I guess, is probably the that's probably must be the bottom line. >> Yes, I guess. >> What do you think? What do you think would happen if you had an uh unlimited money and storage space? >> Oh, yeah. was asking about that museum, like do you know what you would do if you could buy all the toys and all the cars and all the rest of it? >> I had um I was going to bring this up myself cuz I was like often I'm like, "Oh, fuck. If I could just do X, I could buy 12,000 packs of uh magic." And then I'm always I always just quickly remind myself, right, hold on. Um, I always quickly remind myself that uh it would ruin everything basically quite quite quickly because you so I don't really want to win the lottery. Um, I don't really unless the lottery is like it pays your mortgage off. Um, I don't really because I know that it will all
the things that I kind of chased were because I was chasing something and if you suddenly take away any kind of chase you you you if I could buy as much as I wanted there is no I've got it. It's boring. It's pointless. >> You >> I don't think it would work well. I think it would >> Don't Are you Aren't you >> buying everything I could want? No. Oh god. No. No. No. No. Like I'm I'm I don't have enough money. I'd like often I put like six sealed boxes into the into my basket, right? Collector's edition boxes of Spider-Man or Avatar and I'm like that's a good investment.
And I genuinely believe that's a good investment cuz they're like 260 quid now. I expect them probably to go up to 400, 500, 600, blah blah blah, right? Um and then I put it in in the basket, it's like 1,800 quid. I'm like all right, I can't do it. But I would like to do it, but I can't do it because it's too much money. Um, so right now I'm I'm I I you you are right in asking that question now because I had a little bit of a wobble, didn't I, in in the first month that I got into magic. Um, but I'm not >> Yeah, I mean to be fair, I'm not asking about magic. Um, >> and and and spurs of spending happen and it happens to me. I mean, >> yeah, >> when you feel like you've got more Um, is it me?
>> No. >> Like I I I think so. Like let's say you have all of a sudden 40% of your of your whole bank account you get in is in a big splurge or something. So you've increased your capital by a lot and you know that you could not work for 3 months and you'd be all right with that money. So okay, now I've got this comfy safety net. I will go out and spend 5% of my whatever. I'm putting percentage, but it's not important. You know, that happens to me when I'm like all of a sudden I know I've paid off all my taxes. Uh I've got no upcoming spends and I've got like a little bit more money than I can I can buy this one box or or thing, right? That's how it works for me. But then that cascades quite quickly.
Yeah. So, I don't really feel any um like closure on this conversation or it's it's maybe I'll mull over it for the next week or or something. But, um the artwork, I've got a lot of artwork and again I feel much more comfortable buying artwork even though I never want to sell it and I did have to sell it when I um moved cities. Um, I know that I can fall back on it like like like the artwork, right? The elder artwork. I kind of know if I'm fucked, I could sell that for like 50 grand or something. And 50 grand is like a year.
I could It's like a year salary. I could, you know, and then obviously if I don't have a job, I'm not buying magic at that point. I'm I'm, you know, I'm paying my mortgage and blah blah blah, but I'm it it gives me I enjoy the artwork and I know that it's like some weird financial safety net basically. So, do you No one's got any more right anymore >> on collecting.
>> Yeah. I don't think I have I don't have any questions about your collections. Uh >> but yours mine? >> No, I don't have any questions about that either.
>> How far back does yours go? >> I don't really uh All the Warmer stuff is just uh that that goes more under the Bitsbox uh label. >> Oh, interesting. >> Which is ridiculous. >> Yeah, it's an insane amount. I have uh 15 about 15 boxes of that same size as you do with warmer stuff and most of it's sealed but I still count it as >> stuff that's recent enough and practical enough and I haven't bought it as part of a collection or it's none of it is like second edition. Uh but then other things I collected is just gathering dust.
>> It's not that old. I mean, the I'd say the the oldest stuff that's still in boxes is like 10 years old, maybe maybe 15. >> It started it spiraled very quickly out of control with sprews, just loose sprews and plastic frames. When I started working there, >> I started getting some free shit and that >> got out of control quickly. Um, no, but I've I used to collect Star Wars toys uh when I was younger and uh yeah, >> um I've learned a little bit from that what how I am with collections, but also it's been a good lesson in like >> what you were just saying about the like if I had all the money in the world and I could buy all the cool shit, I don't think I would because I know it's two things for me that stand in the way. One is it's it's not as fun as I think it's going to be. It's not as nice to have.
And then the other thing I've realized is I kind of need a loop. I need um like I'm sort of a completionist. >> Yeah. >> Like if I buy like in a video game if the game is like, "Oh, you've collected this one thing and it says like, you know, one dash 56." I'm like, "Fuck, I need to do this 55 more times now. I'm gonna kill myself." I I like to do that. And I and I uh I it's it's like I bought um like if I buy, you know, I buy a limited edition book and again it has like a number on the spine and I'm like shit I need to keep going now because there's a number on it >> and I just there's no end with collecting most things.
>> There's no end. Like if you start to buy um well, let's say the the second edition stuff. >> Mhm. >> The I guess maybe if I if I decided like I want to own every um well like you like every LAR kit from >> Yeah. >> that was available to buy in 1998. That would be a finite amount. That could be a cool thing to have. You could fit that in like one shelf. >> Yeah. But if it's just kind of that random like I'm going to buy all the things, I think that would it wouldn't really work for me.
>> Well, I mean having speaking from experience of collecting every single second edition box, >> um you just keep inventing new ways to to challenge yourself. First of all, it was every older one, right? And then you do it. And then because so the thing about being a millionaire or billionaire or trillion billion millionaire um like you see what happens when you add collectors with money. You spend 2002 200 million on a single uh magic card and you spend £17 million on that Paul Logan bullshit thing, right? Like >> so all that happens is you get normal people who suddenly have money and they they've they can get hold of everything else. So then and that's why artwork goes up exponentially as well because people with more money want that exclusive thing. It's the psycholog the psychology of it doesn't change, right?
It just it just doubles up >> like >> but also artwork like classical art these days is just uh it's just this tax scam. I mean, people buy artwork, put them in uh free ports. They have replicas made of their own original art and they just keep that art in like storage. It's pretty crazy. >> And that's that that's got to be like the worst kind of collecting I can imagine really. With your stuff, it does feel very like personal and like you're enjoying it.
>> I think you mentioned Albert being in your uh your mom's well going through all your boxes. Like, >> yeah, go on. Sorry. >> And that's not even his, like you said, it's not even his stuff, but he enjoys rumaging through it and looking at it. I can I can kind of see that. I would love to see that stuff, too. Just pick up the boxes and then put them down and they're not mine. You know what I mean? Like that the owning them wouldn't really matter to me. If if anything, I would be happy not to have to store all that stuff, but just to look at them. >> Yeah, I think I would be the same having looked at those other collections from those. Like I think I could work in a shop that unpacks sealed collections, just organizes and collect and and maybe you're allowed you're gifted like one box from the whole collection or something or you know to give you that motivation. Um >> yeah, I think um like the whole art I think human beings weren't designed for this basically. I think we've never had to have this or or we are wired to uh want to hoard and like um I was thinking about it the other day how you know they
found like those tribes in the 80s 90s and there's still some now that were untouched um and they have no concept of like anxiety, depression um any of the ailments that we've kind of it's not invented but we have created as in they they exist because of the the way we live our lives now. I think I spoke about it before like >> it's ironic that we're surrounded by more people than ever, but we're the loneliest we've ever been kind of thing in in as humans. And and I really like the idea of um like a tribe where you have say 50 60 people.
>> You have your job, you know what your role is in that tribe. You don't have all these other expectations coming in and um you know the tribe helps raise the whole family and and you're part of the tribe. You're not part of >> four or five people. Um, and like a part of me thinks that humans shouldn't have access to be able to hoard like I do or like the millionaires do or like you know it doesn't make sense that you would and and I get why we do it because that's what to survive you would have wanted to do that >> keep all your good shit together and but yeah I I I I do like the idea of tribal living a lot and I don't mean living in a cave. I mean like some sort of weird small community where everybody just shares I mean it can't work because capitalism houses salaries bills like but >> no but you made a you made a good you touched on a point there was you wake up in the morning and you know what your job is you know what to do I mean that's technically true now for you as well but you also know that there's other things you could do there's creativity >> there's pressure there's expressions
things that you could do for yourself for your family whatever if there was >> slightly you know more stakes but less effort so to speak. I think >> like less of a a lower ceiling for what you could actually do. I think >> I think yeah >> I think it would be super easy. You don't what I mean like the pressure like work always want you to do more and better than you did before right just the inherent basis of it is >> okay great you're doing your job and it's great they're not going to leave you there. They're going to be like, "How can we maximize this guy's output?
>> How we set goals? We set targets. We give bonuses. We give achievements compared to compared to I'm a fucking blacksmith and I'm working. Maybe blacksmith's bad cuz they might be armoring up for a war and then you do need to rush shit." But let's say go back further before you had that like your day would just be surviving. >> If you're in a farming Yeah. If you're in a like an agricultural community and all you do is farm all day, I don't I don't think anyone's going to come to you and be like, could you be could you do as much farming as you do and also be the town doctor, >> right? But also that would be annoying and the chemist. But but if you go even further back like these tribes where they have no depression or anything, >> they will hunt for what they need and they'll go out, they'll kill it, and then the rest of the day they're chilling out with everyone. And I mean, I don't know the reality in fairness. I wasn't there. I'm not there. That that's my concept of how I think like you'd have a patriarch, a matriarch, you'd have um hunter gatherers. You'd all have your roles, right? You know exactly what you need to do. And you know, I need to kill a deer for the next four days. I'll go and kill a deer. I'll come back with a deer. And now the next four days are
just living life >> rather than I need to collect this thing. I need to chase this thing. I need to do this thing. I need I feel bad. Even Even adding pressure to a hobby is hilarious. And I'm I'm the guy doing it, right? >> Yeah. Definitely. and get which are not paint. It's a it's a weird thing to say, isn't it? >> Um, so yeah, I'm I'm pretty sure um Hold on. My headphones disconnected. Say
something. >> Yeah, it didn't work. >> Something. >> Yeah. No, it didn't work. Hold on. >> Yeah, >> yeah. Yeah. So, are you ready? Are you Well, let's do thought of the day. >> Yeah, please. >> The episode has been thought of the day, though. Maybe we don't need a thought. Um, right. Where is the We are doing fat fat. >> Faction feud. Oh, I do. >> You need to share your screen or something.
>> Yeah. So, we can Yeah. >> Well, you Yeah, I do. You could actually go to the website. Anyway, I push stop again. Oh, fuck. Right. I I'll be honest. This looks amazing. Okay. I hope I'm not showing you any. Um Oh, I suppose everyone sees that when I do that, do they? Yeah, they do. And I should click that as well. Professionalism is key, right? >> Wow. >> Come on, guys. Fucking now. Look at that. Shit. What do you think?
>> It's amazing. >> It's amazing. Right. I don't know why. Say again. >> It's mind-blowing. >> It's so good. Right. So, I need to reset the game. I need to do this off. Right. I can pause for this or you two can talk amongst yourselves. Um, no, I'll pause it then. All right. Yeah. Okay. Heaven forbid just to show everyone how I pick a game. Okay. So, the contestants are are now and Martin. Okay. >> Mhm. >> Um, the name is episode 9. And then I've got the questions from the Excel document that we obviously have. Okay. And I Oh, that's a bug. So, I've not tested it properly, I guess. All right. Well, anyway, I'm pausing, right, boys? Okay.
Here's how it works. Okay, for anybody who doesn't know, Baction Feud is um you see the question at the top. Name something that frustrates frustrates painters during a painting session. In fact, let us go back one place to the first question. You will see a stepper here which shows you how many questions there are. And then so in this question you have eight possible answers, right? And it has already chosen that Martin I made it pick randomly from the start is going first. Okay. The object of the game it is very much like Blockbusters.
Um I can't remember what the point of this is uh like how you describe it. I give you a question. We asked 100 people. We didn't ask 100 because only 13 replied, but we will pretend that we asked 100. I did a percentage base. Um, >> close enough. >> And you have to guess what the highest answer is on those lists of things. Okay? And then you get points scored. And you will see there is a scoring. You get three votes each. Um, and the active player is Martin. So Martin, welcome to the new faction feud. The best faction feud we have ever had. Uh, >> clearly it looks amazing.
>> Thanks, buddy. Oh. Oh my god. I feel like I should answer. Uh >> probably >> right. I I hope this is as exciting and and as good as I I envisioned it was. I also think I'm going to add um task masters in here so we can track task masters upload and then have it. Basically, I'm going to just make a website. All right. Martin Mo name the most annoying part of preparing a miniature before painting. Gab filling. Now I don't even need to tell you. I just click the right. Let's see if this works. Okay.
>> Yeah. So, what do you do now? Do you >> number four? Number four. >> Wow. But uh can I just uh quickly say it? >> Oh, no. So, it Yeah. Sorry. Okay. I got the 12 points and then it also switched to our now. >> Correct. >> Yeah. It's pretty good. I don't have to do much now. I just need to click the button. This is a spiffy ass website to tell you should pay for this game. >> I'm going to make that animation slightly slower. I think it didn't build up enough tension.
>> Yeah, I I wanted >> Yeah, I think it's too quick right now. >> Also, can I say how the fuck is that number four? >> I probably just don't fill I guess. >> Idiots. Yeah, fine. Now you have to do weird faces when we answer and and um comments about things like the how's his name? What's his name? >> The host man. I don't know. >> Brian Reynolds. >> Yes. The car. He's actually 50% of why I watch this show.
>> So I you mean I now can be a real like um Yeah. >> talk show host. >> Showman. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. So why I I've never watched it. I don't know how it works. Like, is he he's he's obviously sarcastic and >> Yeah. And he has that gigantic white teeth. He's very sarcastic. >> And is he old or is he sexy? >> He's both. >> I see. >> Yeah. >> But not some weird pedo guy from like the n 80s talk to host guys. >> No. No. >> Yeah. Okay. So, he's like a respectable guy that people actually like.
>> Yeah. >> I should probably watch it and then Okay. So, I will mug you off on your answers then. Exactly. >> And do I ask you like do I ask you like why would you say that? Like what made you think to give that answer? >> Yeah. For example, >> all right, fine. I'll be myself. I'm going to go to my auto ego. Okay. Right. R now. Um, can you beat that that 12 number four, I guess. Um, I'll say missing parts. >> I should have added a thing that adds a big cross that says no, it's not on there.
>> Really? >> It's not there. Well, how is it how is it possible? >> Yeah, I >> I wouldn't have thought so either. I never I never struggled with missing parts. >> Yeah, I literally have never struggled with missing missing parts. It's crazy. What? But no, but what I mean is that you are going to assemble something and there's missing parts. >> Yeah, that's how else would you interpret the words missing part. >> That's the most annoying thing in the world. >> That's never happened to me. It's never >> I I genuinely don't think that's ever happened to me on now. >> You are. Yeah. >> Well, are now I mean I don't I actually I genuinely didn't put in that you might not give an answer. So I don't know how to skip to the next. Um, >> then nothing happens. Yeah, nothing happens.
>> Yeah, but I can't vote for I can't I haven't >> voted it in. Um, right. I tell you what, M. Oh shit. Oh shit. Um, hold on. Are we still recording? Uh, I think I could possibly do it. We should just give our now another go. >> Yeah, let's give another go. That's >> I think it's a good idea, isn't it? Um, >> let's say um mold lines. >> That's going to be number one.
>> Like he went from no one voted for that to literally the number one. >> I mean, Martin, do you feel like um if this is number one that he's cheated effectively? >> Uh well, the previous answer was so weird that he deserves another go, >> right? It's like it's like a handicap. was I was yeah I was more surpris I said gap filling and I was like it's one of two things it's gap filling and mold lines >> but this is such this is so stupid >> now was like no it's when you don't have a milkshake in front of you like no one has these problems right now what the fuck are you talking about >> every single figure in in history of humankind have more lines so it's not the most annoying part it's just one of the parts that we have to realize that's the most annoying part That's why it's the most annoying part because it's because it's inevitable.
>> Exactly. It's so consistent. >> I think it's the opposite. >> And gap filling you do have to do every single time. >> No, you don't. When you have a figure that has a really big gap, it's like, oh, this is fucking annoying because it has a really big gap. >> But that's why it would be the most up there on the >> I mean, clearly the people have spoken. Um, right. Well, here you go. Um, are you ready? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, obviously. Um, >> well done. Oh, now you you've you've done well there to cheat the system.
>> Yeah, you've done well. >> Yeah, you you earned that. >> What is what what's the other one then? Um, >> I will be honest. I'll give you a hint. No, I won't. Not a hint. Some of the answers surprised me. >> Okay. I'm just preparing a miniature before painting. Um, >> and and the miniatures aren't always GW. Of course, >> it's miniatures. Yeah, of course. >> Miscasts. >> I think you're going to get another guess, mine, because I don't have I don't have a way to skip. So, >> okay. Uh, no miscasting. It's a big design flaw, I guess, in my I just never thought you'd get it wrong.
>> No. >> Um, and now you're even as well, right? That's really good. You're both on the same >> Oh, fuck. >> Ah, what what what's a miscast? What? Like, define what you see as a miscast. Uh well uh I don't know what people call it, but basically like when uh when the two halves don't line up perfectly, >> that would be a miscast.
>> Is there a medium that that happens more on? >> A medium? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, resin. >> Resin. >> Oh, let's say resin prints then or something like that. Resin prints or resin. >> Have a look at the board, boys. Yeah. I don't know what people cleaning resin. Okay. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Cleaning resin. >> Such a general thing though, like we do that with half the miniatures we paint, but Okay. >> Yeah. >> Well, that's why it's the most annoying, right?
>> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Um, I will say that when two pieces don't match, like don't don't fit together. >> Oh, wow. Assembly pinning. >> What's cool is I don't have to add up the score. >> Yeah, we can already tell who's >> completely dominating this round >> by cheating. Well, I'm not far.
>> No, I I I think are now >> Well, you've still got one load left, so you've got to get through the the game show, boys. >> Um, do I only do one left or do Oh, it says one votes left. Yeah, actually, it shouldn't be just three each. >> It's per question. >> Yeah, I know it's per question. Obviously, it's per question, but >> Oh, what? In the game show, you you finish it, do you? >> You go through all the answers, do you? >> They have they have three fails. So when they do three fails, they change to the other team. >> Yeah, but we always did alternating.
>> Can you because you'll never fail. >> Well, we did fail twice. >> Yeah, I know. That was just weird. >> Assembly preparing a manager before painting. The most annoying part. Uh priming. >> I'll give it to you. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Makes sense. on our last vote. >> Um, >> has already won. >> Yeah, it's a shame, isn't it? But the game dictates that we have to finish it. >> The most annoying part.
>> Drinking a tall glass of blood. >> The most annoying part. >> Um, you could say anything now or now. It doesn't matter. Like >> when you break a piece. >> Break. >> Yeah, I guess so. broken pieces, right? >> Removing no sense. >> That's not what he said. But that's also >> basically mold lines, but okay. Removing sprew gates. >> No, it's when you cut it out and then you have to clean that.
>> Yeah, but you also have to sometimes fill it in, not just remove. Ah, fuck it. Good answers, everyone. All seven of you. >> Right. Next question. Name something that frustrates painters during a painting session. Uh, neo-Nazism. Definitely. >> That is awful. And that's number that is number one. I'll give you that. Right. >> Um, I'm going to say um dust. >> So, it could be dust in your wet palette. Dust. Yeah. Dust or hair.
>> It's not the best answer though, Martin. I don't want to like >> It's literally the worst answer. >> It's on you. Yeah. But it is an answer, right? >> Yeah. That that bugs me during my painting session. >> Um that that would have been my number one or very high up there. >> Uh not finding the right color like matching the color or something. >> Let's see if the board That's what I can start saying. Let's see the board. I need to add the the wrong animation.
Right. Check the board. >> Oh, number five. >> Wrong color choice. >> By the way, the score the score is an amalgamation on the whole thing, right? >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Wait. >> Yeah. Okay. Sorry. >> We can tell because Arnell's up by 16 points. >> Yeah. But I'm saying you can win it back, mate. You can win it back. >> Yeah, that's good. Um I would say then paint dilution. >> Paint dilution. or consistency, >> whichever it's the same, >> however you phrase that. >> Let's check the board, boys.
>> It is there. Well done, mate. But it's not the best. You guys have struggled. >> Yeah, we have. >> Yeah. >> Jesus. >> Um >> really curious. It's obviously going to be something that neither me or now problem. >> Yeah. Like for me, being shit would be >> Yeah, exactly. Just being >> Yeah. >> Interruptions. >> Interruptions. >> Oh, interesting. I mean, how long does that happen? >> I don't know. Let's check. >> I'm saying things that that people might say, not that I think. >> Yeah, true. Uh, hold on.
Incorrect answers is not on the board, boys. So, >> it's over to you, Martin. This is your chance, buddy. the most annoying the news and frustrates too. Um I mean details being too small maybe just being shit not seeing the details properly something like that.
No, no, sorry. Um, that was your chance. One one vote left each, boys. Well, this is a this is this is I don't know if this is actually more exciting to have this thing. I feel like it's slowing it down slightly, but it has added some jeopardy in here. >> It's it's cooler. I mean, we can check the score and yeah, it's >> um painting paint drying in the palette. >> Oh, that's probably >> You ready?
>> The top one. >> Let's check the board, lads. >> Oh shit, >> motherfucker. >> Exactly as I said. >> One more vote. Is it? Have you got to learn the vote, Mark? No, no, no. We're done. Okay, then we will go to the next question. There are six questions. We can't see what the other We can't see what the other answers. >> Oh, would you like to see them? >> Of course. >> Oh, I didn't know they did that. Okay, so number two, I can't I not There is no reveal mechanism. I've I never thought that anybody would want that. Um, number two is bad blending or just getting the shit wrong on the on the model, basically.
>> Um, accidentally touching wet paint, >> which it does happen. And actually I I I I have to say that is mildly annoying, but it doesn't happen that often. Dropping the model is a clear and obvious one. Yeah. And brush losing its tip. >> Okay. Okay. >> Yeah. Okay. Don't read out the question cuz I'm the game host. All right. Fucking cunts. Um Martin, are you first? I thought you went first last time. >> I think I got first.
>> Oh, he's first every time. That's an unfair advantage. I need to program that. Look, it's a it's a >> Well, it's all right. I mean, I'm I'm going to be first the next >> 27 points up, so I think he's okay. >> I think Arnell is going to win this one. Um, in this in this question, name something painters watch or listen to while painting >> anime. His face is out. >> Oh, okay. >> That was No one said that. No one said anime. I I might be a little bit strict there, but >> name >> it was too spec Yeah.
>> Yeah. Movies. >> That's too specific. >> But is movies an answer? That's We can't have eight answers if movies is one of them. >> You're going to hate me later, but >> Oh, it's not in there. It's not even a fact. >> Uh, yeah, this makes no sense if if I don't know how specific we want to get. Are we talking about artists or like >> Hey, I don't make the rules. Name something painters watch or listen to while painting.
>> Yeah. Okay, fine. Uh, audio books. >> Yeah, that makes sense. >> Got number four. Unlucky, mate. You're nearly right. I mean, you were right. No, you're doing good. are now it's one vote left each now has two >> podcasts >> um >> podcast is going to be number one >> nah I think so >> podcast is number one we'll take a quick recess now I hope everybody is fully
relaxed after that little advert we had in between our game show which is the best game show on any podcast with the fewest listeners in the world I will say um >> Mhm. M >> uh >> this is humiliating. >> Yeah, this is this is for the loss. You're only halfway through the uh it just gets anyway. Please >> and I have and I'm very soon I'm going to have half as many points as are now. Uh I'll go with uh I don't know if I should be specific here, but I'll say YouTube. >> Okay, that's that was a shot in the dark. I was surprised that you got that.
after having already said the anime. Um, oh no. I mean, I'm tempted to say music, but it's again it's movies again. So, >> yeah, it's so generic. >> I'll say music, but you cannot say one guru. So, I'd say music. >> Is it on our board? I mean, >> yes, it is. Number three. So, we have four answers that are not music, podcast, audio book, or YouTube. Okay.
>> Um, TV shows, I guess. >> No, it's done. You got no votes left. Sorry. Oh, we're done. Yeah, you're done. >> What are the other four? >> Number five was TV shows. >> Yeah. Okay. >> And of course, number six was painting tutorials. >> But how is not movies then? If if >> Yeah, I I agree. I I laughed if you had seen my face while laughing while I entered that as the wrong answer. Um I did enjoy that. It was ridiculous. And anime. Um yes, painting tutorials, live streams, and silence. One >> silence >> fucking cuntil watch silence. I do also watch silence.
>> It's amazing. Now Viet have something hobbyists end up collecting too many of >> names. I think I send them >> the skulls of my enemies >> and the make their women and >> Yeah, exactly. phone numbers to um strangers uh hobbyists end up collecting too many of uh something um models. I mean, let's just get broad. >> Let's see if it's on our board. And I want us to both look sideways, which we obviously can't, but >> yeah. Oh, wait. It's the other way, right? That way.
>> Boom. >> Yeah. Unpainted miniatures >> top >> shocker >> answer there. Paints. >> Yeah, I was going to That's got to be number two surely. Let's see. >> Yeah. Um >> brushes. >> What What else is there? Yeah. >> Yeah. What else do we even I'll say brushes then. Okay. So, we're just moving down.
>> Just going through the things that we have. >> Fair enough. >> At least I'm slight sort of catching up to now. >> Yes. I always end up collecting too many. >> It's a bit harder now, I think. >> What else do we have? Um, I don't know. Maybe I would say uh planes.
I don't think I had that on my mind, too. Yeah. >> No. Let's check the board. Oh, nice. No. Yeah, paints, brushes, miniatures. That's surely that's it. Like, what else would we collect too many of? >> It's a good chance to potentially overtake. Now, I'll tell you, the fourth answer has 12 points on it. The fifth has 10. >> One vote left each.
Uh, tools. Let's check the board. What I like now is I can say, "Let's check the board." And you don't know if it's going to be a hit or miss. >> Mhm. And it's uh Oh, it's something. Oh, nice. Tools and gadgets. We are >> neck and neck. >> Neck and motherfucking neck. Finally. I'll say books. >> Yeah, it's going to be on there. People buy yours, they buy Roman. I'll reference photos.
>> Yeah, semi counts. I've got to go in like seven minutes, so I'm just going to click faster. Right. And we go to the next question. Well done, boys. We also had basing materials. >> Basing materials. That makes sense. >> Bits and spare parts. The bits box and paint racks and tits. Big racks because racks is a another word for tits. >> Definitely is. >> We We collect storage. >> Paint racks. >> I >> Yeah, we collect storage are now.
>> Well, I literally do. I have so much fucking I have more than I ever needed. Name a place >> you can relate to people who refuse to paint but are still like >> committed to this hobby. >> Name a place where painters get inspiration. I'm speeding up now cuz I need to go and pick up the door. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Uh, a place where they get inspiration for color schemes, painting competitions, I don't actually think that's a good answer. Fuck. >> Fuck. That's kind of it. But no, >> uh, Instagram.
>> I should have social media. >> I never thought anybody would put it that way. Um, >> yeah. Okay. >> If it says social media, then oh no, I should get >> No, it doesn't say social media, but it could be in construed that way. Fuck it. >> Okay, check the board. >> Uh, the internet, >> the wall. >> Yeah. >> No. Jesus Christ. Um, schemes. Uh, other painters. I don't know if it's phrased like that. like >> other painters. It is exactly like that.
>> It's I'm like, did you answer this? >> Say >> I'll say nature like real animals and nature and stuff. Thanks. It literally says nature. Okay. >> Can you see my screen? Is that what's going on? So the top answer of course how you got this wrong box art. I really I by the way >> that's literally other painters.
>> Yes. That's so is other painters. No no no it was so is Instagram. Like I said I I should have said these are real tangible physical things. That's what I I should have like opened up with that. Right. And then you've got movies and games. >> Yeah. I guess it's the what threw me off is that the is the place word. >> Yeah. Instead of what is this? >> So So Jimmy, just quickly, you're giving all of those to Arno, you know. >> No, no, he's he's he's voted. He's voted. Hold on. Oh, wait. I should pause. Um, right. Let's do last question. Also, I realize next game show we'll just do three questions. Okay.
Because it does take >> But I'm saying I think Okay. Yeah. Never mind. >> Name the most common reason hobbyist projects stay unfinished. Uh, distractions. >> Mhm. Mhm. Mhm. >> Go to the board, >> maybe. >> Fuck. >> Um, >> okay. Should I phrase? >> No. Yeah, it's it's too specific. Be be more specific. Sorry. >> Other what other other projects new projects come get in the way?
>> Let's check the board. Yeah. Yeah. New product. >> Um to so how do I say like a wall like we don't know how to follow or we don't you know >> Mhm. Let's check the wall. Uh well done. Not the best answer but it's still good. >> Too difficult. >> Yeah. >> You need now to get two wrong and you get both of these right m and then you could win.
Uh not most reasons is press finished. Um >> not not good enough, >> however you want to phrase that. >> Let's check the board, >> motherfucker. >> Sorry, mate. >> And it's finished. lose interest. >> Let's check the board.
Oh shit. Sorry guys. Shit. Rana. Uh busy with life. Not enough time. Yeah. Let's check the board. >> Do I still have one left?
>> Yes. Sorry. Yes. Yes. Where it says one boat left, that's where it says it. >> Uh, why would I stop? I don't know. Um to be fair, I cannot I cannot think of a single thing why I would leave project unpainted other than this for >> unthinkable. >> Right. Exactly. >> The most common reason >> people you always say it people always say this and they shouldn't. It's a bad thing. I don't know why I'm helping is winning. I always root for the underdog mountain. I wanted you to win.
>> Right. There you go. I'll re it. I'll reveal them. I got to go. The number three is made a mistake. >> Made a mistake. >> Yeah, that gets me in fairness. >> Okay. >> Bored of a model. >> Yeah. >> Waiting for inspiration and real life work. >> Nice one. >> Brilliant, boys. Brilliant. Um, I think you earned that to be honest now. I think >> yeah, >> you know, well done. How do you So, that's the new that's the new game show. I will try and streamline in a bit, but um I liked I liked it. I I still feel something got lost a little bit in it.
Let me know your thoughts in the in the comment. I think it's not as good as I thought it would be. >> Maybe Well, we will see. Yeah, we have to do it a couple more times and see. True. True. >> Yeah. I thought it was really good. It could possibly be better. >> Yeah. >> I just don't know how. Maybe a jingle. >> And so could I. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. That's true. >> Yeah. We were >> So, oh, now you've won. And that will be on your permanent record now. >> Um, >> do I win a car or something now? Money? >> You win. You win the chance to other people to possibly give us stuff.
>> Yeah. Whenever someone gives something for free, >> for example, >> if you want to if someone wants to give this podcast something for free, it's going to now whatever it is. >> Where are my trousers? >> Yeah, that's a good question and we'll save it for next week. >> Cheers, guys. Don't forget we have a patron now. We fucking do. We have a we have a real patron. It's called um/hutb. See you later. Bye. So, and and but I still did this. So,
it's it's maybe a seven or a seven or a half or in my in my ideal, but it still exists and it's, you know, >> yeah, that's my uh my my minim is is is firmly in that camp. You you I don't know when it's coming up because it's random. Um but we're getting there, right? Um this is by P. Diddy. Um, I actually don't know his first initial, but it's the the Diddy Kong.
>> There there's no there's no P. There's no >> just Diddy, is it? >> It's just um who I do know well. And um he did this I was going to say for us, but no, he did it for himself. Um I also really like >> it. >> Yeah, this the the composition on the base as well. The Infinity figures are so cool >> because they have this very realistic proportions that you don't find usually in 28 ms. >> Yeah. So small. >> Yeah. They seem like 75s. They are not.
They are super small as well. A lot smaller than Warhammer. >> Yeah. Cuz they're not heroic at all. Right. >> Yeah. >> I call that cool. >> Yeah. I really like it. and and the warm ambient and even if it's subtile, everything is ambiented in browns and it works really well. >> Yeah, I really like that too. >> I agree. Well played. Now, I I thought Paul did this. Not Paul. I thought did he did >> No, this is also this is also David Robert.
>> Well, then we're just we're just sharing his uh his artwork at this point. >> I thought that he because of the two I assumed Hold on. which is the mouse that everyone can see. I assumed it was the crow. I mean, you can do two M task monsters, right? There's no rule against it. >> Yeah. >> So, literally maybe he just did two. Fair play to him. Um, yeah. Hold on. >> It's a really good the base also. It fits so well with the with a character. >> Yeah, it does actually. Fucking dwarfs. Yeah, >> he does like his dwarfs. Anybody who likes one thing over other thing is a a savage.
>> You know, if you like the same thing, >> it's a silly way to approach the hobby. >> I wouldn't I personally would always do one different army or race. >> You are a man of diversity. We've always known this. >> 101. 101. Um I like this. So this this piece was was this is how I want to paint, believe it or not. um like because I think I said that and he was like I don't believe you and I said well believe it or not I do want to. So um this is by um Cookie Marcus to Steve and >> um the I think the base is really good.
It's scratch built I think. Did I include two views? Yeah, I had to because there's um forced shadow but it's a cool like >> I feel like um I don't know if it's true but he's got a freedom that I want to try and emulate in my own painting. Right. Um, >> yeah. >> And yeah, so this this I I like this piece. This is my not saying that we have to put labels on stuff, but this was my favorite piece. >> Nice. >> Yeah. >> Nice. >> So it it it ignites something. >> Yeah. I think it's the it's the also the the front skeleton's clearly going to fall off a cliff right there if you look at his right foot. Um >> Yeah.
>> No, because it's it's that there's more floor. >> That's not it. That's it. It's a precipice. Like I don't know why they like what are they thinking? They're blind as well. Um yeah, it's the piece that spokes me. >> There's nothing behind them. >> Yeah, >> I think it's very cool, too. This the color scheme is really nice. I love the way he's rendered the metallics. Uh there's loads of color in the colors, so to speak. >> And I think he's used dirty down. Now, a little um a little a little thing. They are my favorite of all and the best of all things that do weathering.
>> I think they're great guys over there at Dirty Down. And if >> Yeah, they're the one of the best brands overall in the hobby, I think. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> Yeah. Um Yeah. I don't know what I was saying, but uh what was I saying? >> How good D is, how it is the probably best single product in the world. Of course, you don't have to, you know, you don't have to say this contractually. You you don't have to like nobody's paying to say this. >> No, not by in no way. And and I I have not and maybe in the future will get the their products. They may or may have not reached out to us, which I think I've said before.
>> And even if I'm not contractually obliged to to say it either, um I do agree actually. They are freaking amazing and I don't think I've tested a product that just worked so well just from the start. Would you hypothetically of course if someone were to give you them and say thank you and you don't pay would you accept that or would you say no I don't want to sell myself? >> Well I would probably cry a little bit of happiness.
>> Yeah. >> It's so funny that it has penis in the word isn't it? Wait, what? Happiness. Isn't that amazing? I do like wordagrams. Um, so yes, thank you Dirty Down for that amusing antidote. And also thank you Stevie C. Oh, the back. Right, are you ready? Oh shit. All right. Um, it is that I only with that view and you can just enjoy it. I think I can zoom in a little bit.
Right. Hold on. >> This is how you zoom in as well. I ask you >> where's our face. >> So, how's your base going? How's how's it coming along? >> I see. It's done. >> You're done with this. Okay, cool. >> It's finished. I don't know why I how I've I thought the whole point of this like Oh, the camera's going front. I see. There you go. Um, so yeah, I I a part of me will finish it probably. Um, and the camera's done a lot of, you know, post-processing there. It's a lot smoother in real life, but um it's it's been this piece really is I like the reason why I haven't I've sort of said in my mind this is finished here is because it's shown me you've got the base and I've not refined it at all, but I like it. And you've got the two models that show my journey.
>> The the orange one I I assume is the second one. >> Correct. Yeah, >> it's a lot better. like like worlds apart. >> It's got some feeling and warmth and um and focus and consistency on the light and you know >> Yeah. >> So it was it was I had a I just had in my mind more shit that was going on. We don't need to talk talk about it too much, right? Cuz it is what it is. It's not finished. a part of me wants to finish it, but at the same time, this really shows the the volatile journey that I went through. Um, like, yeah, I could block in the skin and and highlight on the on the and finish the barrel and stuff. Um, I'm not sure if I will yet.
And in 6 months, if I have suddenly started painting a shitload, then this piece will be the the thing, right? Mhm. >> Like when I die, this will probably sell for I don't know like let's say 20 million more. Do you know what I mean? >> You're being modest here. >> It will I I I have a lot of emotion attached to this piece now basically for for what it's um the joy I felt when I just stuck those legs on and they didn't wobble anymore.
It was insane. like I didn't feel like anybody should be allowed to feel the such joy. Um >> when doing diuramas and you and you glue the the characters together, it's like >> Yeah. >> Yeah. I I didn't I Yeah, it feels like when I first had sex, like I I'd built up this big thing in my head before. >> Yeah. >> And it was over in 2 minutes and it was amazing. and gluing these in. I didn't think something so quick could feel so good except for sex, you know? Like it it's great. It's great. There's no part of me that is is not really happy. Basically, >> it's a milestone. It's a big milestone.
We shall see. But yeah, >> even if if now you just stop painting whatsoever for the entirety of your remaining life, it's still something that you did. It's >> true. You can't take that away from me. Um, so that is the end. Um, I broke >> There is more. >> No, no, not not on Discord. There wasn't
anymore. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. There there is at least one more. >> Is that like Are you telling me to go and look for it? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm commanding you on this gorgeous. >> Yes. Right. Oh, now I um I praise thanks on you, you slimy weasel worm. Um LG is peace here. Um these are not a scenic base that you buy. These are two separate models, right? >> And I think he was he wanted to try out which is I'm really >> I'm really proud of him, you know, for trying shit out. Um because it's not easy doing something that you know >> Yeah. He went he went all in.
>> Yeah. The effort, man. Like fuck like >> doing a dreadnot. >> Yeah. And a man. >> Yeah. >> And a man. Yeah. Captain >> He wasn't very captain. They all died. >> I really like when when diaramas like these have different silhouettes and sizes. I think it's amazing when there's big and small. >> Yeah. like my balls. >> It's very cool. >> I cannot say. >> Yes, you can are now.
>> I agree. >> The composition here is uh is pretty good, too. I really like the shape the flow of the shape of it. Like the the way the gun moves and then the opposite with the cape and it's nice. >> But >> also Emperor's Children's just a nice color scheme. >> Uh I don't like it. Um it is he's done metallic everywhere, right? which is interesting. >> I'd like to see what this looks like in real life because >> it's shiny here from the Well, yeah, basically. But that much metallic like do you often see things painted metallic? Next model. Um this is Mr. Andy. Now Andy is someone who's never gone.
>> Did you choose the awards to be your >> No. >> No. Okay. >> I didn't. You did. >> You did? >> Really? There's one there's two views. There's two there's two views. There's two views. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> There's actually three views. Um it just it chooses random order. So I don't um >> so I didn't think Andy ever painted and then he said, "What the fuck, dude?" This is on text, which is why I'm translating. Um I painted every task masters except for the last one. And then I said, "Dude, I don't remember that." And he's like, "What? How could you not remember?" Um and I didn't remember. Uh and then I went back and I saw and indeed he had. So, I take it back, Andy. You've done one. Well done, mate. Um, no. Oh, yeah. Ignore that. Oh, fuck. This is the random order problem.
I'll just quickly sign off from Andy's. Oh, no. No. Let me just get there. Let me just There you go. So, there's another view. >> Um, I really like this piece. And I also really think that the cucumbers are really nice. >> Um, I like the >> Great cucumbers. >> It's a It's a good uh great spot of green against that red. And just this this setting is actually really evocative. I think the atmosphere is really good despite the small size. >> Yeah, I love it. And this is the kind of stuff that I'm going to create now. I do art. >> Okay, let's go back.
>> We can't wait. >> Casablanca. Um, which is a country or is it >> a city? >> Fuck. It's close. It's something. Yeah, this was >> close enough, right? Yeah. >> Yeah. I mean, I'm happy. Um, I feel a lot of sadness about me not sharing the whips actually because what you don't see about this piece and all the pieces is that basically everything has been scratch built. Obviously not the models but the bases have their conversions as well of this um lady nearly called her something else um dying and then her her lady friend is >> the one on the dying one on the base is only slightly converted. It actually looks like that >> but standing up. Yeah, it's from the the what?
>> But she's standing up. >> No, no, not standing up. She's lying on the base of the hospitalia model. She's uh >> she's just hurt herself. Yeah, but then Okay, cool. But then all the little bits around it and but yeah, I get you. >> I mean, the fan is >> Yeah, I was just >> of course you you >> I mean I fucking love it. I wish I could do free hands like this. Maybe I can. I I should try. >> I don't think I can. Yeah, >> it's real painting at that point though, isn't it? It's literally It's a canvas. So, >> um >> you It's something. Yeah, she's she's merged both though.
>> Canvas and 3D modeling. Um it's it's it's interesting actually this style versus um the gross style. I don't know how to pronounce your surname, Andy. >> The what? >> His surname. >> Ah. >> Yeah. I don't know. Whatever. Um no, it's interesting the two styles, right? because um Mrs. Blanka has done um it's a round base. It's a very focused story, but it still perfectly conveys the message that this bitch is dying and the lady up there is annoyed that well not annoyed, but do you know what I mean?
>> It's a it's a more streamlined storytelling. Yeah. And I think I don't know if it's true, but this seems very hard to tell a story in such a small thing, >> you know, and then you've got the gross guy, Andy, who's doing the the story is that they're walking through blah blah blah. I I guess it's actually just depends on what you're trying to say because if you put walls around this, it would lose that focus. >> Whereas if you remove the walls on Andes, there's just two BS walking over a path. >> Yeah. Yeah. It creates the scenery and and clear clearly here the the focal point is the banner right as well.
It's like uh I read it uh maybe it's reading it too much into it but >> it feels like that banner of hope uh on top of a a dying friend. You know it's two things that are opposite but then again >> it feels right. sort of the the there's the figure at the bottom who's dying or and which is dark and then the figure at the top of the inside the banner that's the light and that's like the hope and that's maybe she's summoning like the saint to come and help them. It's that kind of feeling.
I also think that in the law, can't they get resurrected as well if they believe in um >> Yeah, exactly. They have this six plus invulnerable, right? >> They if they believe in the lady of faith. >> Yeah. I don't know enough. >> Yeah. I think it's described somewhere that essentially their faith is just kind of psychic powers that they can >> they can believe in something so so hard that it actually happens. >> So they are literally orcs. >> They are orcs basically. Yeah, >> they're orcs. They are just orcs with tits at the end of the day.
>> You don't have Do you have female orcs? >> I don't think you do. No, they they spawn from fungus, aren't they? So you >> they're not born. >> Yeah, in blood though there's female orcs. But no, you're right. It's they're funguses. Yeah, >> I did like these. These these seem very quick. And also the paint is kind of where I'm trying to go with mine at the moment. >> Yeah, the paint is beautiful. Yeah. >> And the scene you could argue was nice >> and because you you would instantly think as a penguin as black. >> Oops. Yeah, that's true. >> And then just that limitation just it's painful when you see this and then you think I could have done it black.
>> Yeah. Well, yeah. You and then you would have fucked up. Well, I I'm I'm I'm slowly realizing um not to drag this episode on. Well, it's not dragged on. It's We're bang on two hours now and we normally do like two hours five. Um I'm slowly realizing like my whole the Guardians, right? The whole thing of using three colors is basically what I was using. I still haven't got the grasp of using more and dark and blah blah blah. But um using three colors is just so flat. I was going to say flaccid, but it's Yeah, it's just uh it's it's it's boring as fuck. And like you say, I would have done a penguin black and some yellow and some orange and some white highlights, right? And you lose all it's not creativity, but yeah, also it depends on what >> it is creativity.
>> Yeah. Um, and I threw this into because it was in the conversation. It looked cool. >> This is my palette for my >> Yes. Good point. >> That's is that what it looks like every day? >> Yeah. Nice. at le well there's there's this is not specially um anarchic but yeah they tend to grow when they have a life a life on it on their own the pains >> it's a lot you you don't hold back on the spludgginess that you >> I mean this is something that I actually think it's very important and I say it in worships always and people don't take it seriously but you have to use paint to paint and most most people Don't.
>> Most people use dirty water and then what happens? >> Dirty water. >> Oh, okay. >> So, water with a little bit of paint. But you mean they can't paint with dirty water? >> It's saying that they just they they dilute it so heavily. They use very little paint and they dilute it very heavily until it's >> because it's when when you put a little blob of paint like a very small um bottom drop of paint. you run out super quickly and what you're doing is you are adding water and scraping that that mix that there there's no paint in there.
It's just you are just >> um dirtying your brush with the remains of your and and this way I I can always put the brush inside the mix like I can literally soak my brush >> so you know what I mean. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah, that explains why you don't have to cuz often I get caught out where it dries before I do you know what I mean? I run out of paint on the brush. >> Um and then I'll have to go back and that is annoying. But also it's cuz I don't know what color and I don't know.
Anyway, fuck that. We're not opening up bottle can of worms. Um I can't go back to the the gallery view because it looks like this. >> So I will I will keep Oh, that's uh Where's the Where's the gallery view? Is it that one? Yeah. Fuck, I'm tired. Um, >> was that another one? >> No, that's LG's. Oh, was there another one? >> The I think so. >> Well, I mean, you literally just showed one another. >> Oh, really?
>> I mean, I don't know if it was D master or not. I don't remember. >> Yeah, we spoke about that. >> No, the other way. The other way. >> Really? >> Sorry. Take You have to wait for the animation to finish before it goes to the next one. No, it was somewhere else. I mean, literally, you just showed a um Imperial Fist and uh >> Oh, right. >> Demonet. >> Was that part of this? >> That's golden demon or or that's >> right, right, right, >> right, right, right. I just It was two models, so I didn't know if it was part of >> That is true.
>> That is a 24 year old golden demon entry. >> Oh. I won't apologize for that episode. >> Do you know what I mean? >> Why would you? It's an amazing episode. >> That's right. Everything we do is gold. But that one was probably the least gold of all the ones we've done. I think I think if I look, we don't need to hang our laashing online um for everyone to see. But um I take no blame. Okay. I mean, we had to remind everyone of your struggles in this episode after 3 week break. So, we just we did it for them, >> right? Yes. This uncomfortableness that we're feeling is for the three listeners that we have. We lost two uh three uh on this hiatus, I think. So, we're we're we're down to three probably.
>> Um >> I think within this episode, we've lost all, but it's probably just LG left. So like >> well no the people who like scrian or Andy will come in because he'll want to see his model and the same with Diddy >> and Blanca um >> as well they should. They've done great work. >> Also in Las Vegas I met um our fifth listener Henry >> Xifer. Your favorite name? >> He's called Henry. >> Yeah >> I didn't know he had a name. >> You can call him Henry now. So >> no I believe >> Henry. Yeah, >> it's not the same.
>> What? How did you greet him though? Exfusa. >> No, I knew he was he was >> um he was really nice and he really liked the podcast >> which is it's weird. People do lie to people's faces. >> I mean he he seemed normal and I was like oh but you like the podcast and you are normal. >> Did you give him just a you know an ABC and ask him to read it back for you? >> No I didn't. Maybe I should. Yeah. >> Do you really think you have a good like radar for normaly though? >> Probably not. Really not. I mean, I hung out with you too, so >> Yeah, true enough. I I Yeah, I've not met the man. He's a man though, right?
>> Yes. >> Well, congratulations on that. You did win at life. So, I was asking earlier, um, everyone wins, right? Unless >> save it. Save it. Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Oh yeah. Thank you guys. Thank you for coming on the uh the journey with me. That has been um what the fuck is going on in the day? We haven't even done Thought of the Day. We We're not going to I don't want to. I want to leave is the answer. >> Um >> yeah, we're going to come back. We're going to come back stronger and better next week. We're going to record one episode instead of like one and a half.
>> Yeah, it does make me realize we could just do two a week, but see you later. >> Yeah. See you next time. >> Yeah. Sorry. We have a Discord.
